  1. Over 40yrs old and still sounds as good as ever… Two-bass-tastic plus Adrian Belew!!
  2. Love that cover. It wasn’t until a few years after it was released that I realised it was Mogg and Way wearing the ball bearings!
  3. Re. New Order. I always think they produced some sublime pop moments, this being one of them…
  4. I’m going to throw a different Cult track into the mix. I was blown away when I first heard this. Loved the bass!
  5. Thanks for posting. Really enjoyed it, brought back a lot of good memories. Had the pleasure/good fortune of seeing WR as a kid (at Birmingham Odeon) and it was like watching someone from a different planet. Also hadn’t realised how close him and Peter Erskine were.
  6. Feeling a bit flat. I need a bit of a boost. I’ve started the day with this… A blast from the past (which may have sneaked into the post punk thread?)
  7. It certainly was! I was really disappointed when Be Bop Deluxe split but bought Revolt Into Style when it came out (on blue or red vinyl, I think?!) and loved it. I saw the band at Birmingham Odeon (or Town Hall?) and, again, loved it. Whilst it wasn’t BBD, it was a definite progression from Drastic Plastic, which I really dug, esp. the more electro moments on the album (e.g. Electrical Language). For me Bill Nelson is such an overlooked artist and musician…
  8. Going to add a touch of Bill Nelson… First track has Bill channelling Devo and T Rex, and the second is by Fiat Lux and was produced by Mr Nelson. Third track is back to Bill, and his New Wave electro-groove ways…
  9. Posted Temple Head on the ‘What Are You Listening to…’ thread the other day - still sounds great!
  10. Here’s a couple of early 80s tracks to go with the excellent selections so far…
  11. … this, over and over. Tim Lefebvre is a very talented gentleman …
  12. Ta for that, not heard it before. There’s a few things I’ve heard off that album now I’ve liked…
  13. Great track. Since listening to it one night through headphones a while back I always think I can hear two lines in there?
  14. Jeez Louise, what a voice …
  15. His original is a bit more laid back and bossa-ish. I love this more ‘pumped up’ version…
  16. Wouldn’t know where to start with my praise for that! Wonderful stuff…
  17. I’m the same day as you then! Allen Woody (a bassist I’d not previously heard of) played with Allman Brothers and Gov’t Mule would count.
  18. He also covered New Age Music by Inner Circle, whose original was actually quite rocky…
