Thanks for the replies, but since I already have the VD cable, I don't want to be shelling out for ready made cables. One of the attractive features of the george L's was the small plugs. I've decided to try some straight jack plugs with plastic covers, which I can modify, and the super slim metal right angle ones.
If you're into self build, totally out to lunch pedals for a bit of noise, you could do far worse than take a look at www.commonsound.com. Loads of interesting pedals and step by step guidance on building the things.
cool site, have you tried building any of them?

Ant, if you've not got fixed up in the next few weeks, send me a pm, and I'll see what I can do. I have a few projects I need to complete first.

I'm about to invest in some patch cables. George L's right angle plugs look ideal in terms of size and design, but I've heard mixed reports about putting them together. Can anyone share their experiences regarding making up the cables, sound quality, alternative solderless plugs etc etc. I have some Van Damme instrument cable which I picked up cheap, is there any reason why I shouldn't use this? thanks
Do the bad monkeys suffer from the same ridiculouly high current draw as other Digitech pedals? My guitarist has a digitech synth-wah and it draws something insane like 400mA if I remember right.
I read somewhere (harmony-central review IIRC) that they are pretty bad for that
It tempts me a lot, but I'm a little emotionally attached to this particular muff!
I think we've all been there at some point in our lives
Audio grade components have their own sounds. To make a "vintage" circuit sound like a pedal made in "vintage" times, you really need NOS components.
are we just talking about the semi-conductors, or does it extend to caps and resisitors as well?
Got a Russian Big Muff for the place of the Little Big Muff... Do EHX pedals' sound still differ a lot between the units like with the old models? I once bought a Russian Big Muff and I returned it coz it sounded so muddy you couldn't distinguish the notes if u played a little faster, and it was so bassy the wah didn't do anything to it. This one sounds completely different! Lots of clarity! But I think it has a little less gain than the other one too... As for the Little Big Muff, my brother in law bought one and it sounded amazing, the one I bought, I struggled to get a good sound off it... I thought the days of dodgy quality control at EHX were long gone...?
I've read that the difference in sound between similar models can be attributed to the tolerance of (some of) the components ie caps values can be +/-20% of the stated values
If it were only as simple as having the right value parts, eh?
so what else does it need?

I was going to make a comment about how nice I thought that envy green looked on your 'ray, then I saw the Dingwall and my jaw dropped, absolutely stunning. How do you find the fan frets?
Hi all I am looking for a decent afforable compressor pedal (sub £100) as I have seen plenty of compressors but most going for quite a lot of money , any suggestions
I can recommend an Art Leveler tube comp, or alternatively I have an Akai Hexacomp multi-band compressor i'm thinking of selling
Great deal. Where did you find the details for the mod incidentally? I might have a crack at this myself at some point.
the website is here. Sign up to the newsletter and then the (large) ebook about modding costs around £7 to download (i am not affiliated to the website, just glad I found it) and yeah, I was pleased with the deal, £10 shipping tho - outrageous!
Components mod. You can pick the Badder Monkey up off ebay.
just won a standard bad monkey of ebay, for £21 (inc £10 postage!!!), got some details for a mod.... i'm (hopefully) in business
Just a thought ... are you using the different amps in the same room or different rooms ?
I had the same thought, could it be dimmers in the lighting circuits or something similar to do with the environment you're playing in?

I found a nice modding website here, if you register you get the option to buy a lengthy pdf with loads of mods. I've paid my money (about £7), and can confirm there are a few CS3 mods in there. I don't think it would be right for me to just post the info on here, since this chap has clearly invested a lot of time in the info he sells, and he's certainly not ripping people off. Suffice to say, If I wasn't happy with my Art Levelar, I'd be looking for a CS3 on ebay to give them a shot
I read a mod'd BadderMonkey sounds awsome, it's not true bypass and can suck a bit of tone.
What mods are they, is it just swapping the footswitch out for a true bypass one or have some components been changed? Anyone any ideas?

I use a Marshall Regenerator RG1 - it has flange, phase and chorus kind of things going on, I can definately say they're worth a look

I have a boss rc20 xl which is pretty good, I haven't spent nearly enough time with it yet tho
-
I quite like the look of them, and I definately prefer the headstock design

I used to use a Compactor, which never did it for me, I have a Akai Hexacomp, which I don't use because I just want to set and forget, instead of having to work with all the sliders. I do use an Art Levelar tube comp, which does it for me, at the end of my signal chain
