1.
Hello, Firstly apologies if this is posted in the wrong section, I wasn't sure where it should go. I've spent quite a while online trying to find some kind of MIDI footswitch controller that can be used to trigger the samples on an Akai MPX8 http://www.akaipro.com/product/mpx8 There seems to be a bit of a gap in the market as I found other people asking the same question and no satisfactory answers. The only thing I found that might do it was a Behringer FCB1010, although it sounds like it's not very straight forward to set up and it's overkill in terms of size for what we need. I don't know much about it, but from what I've read, the Akai needs a MIDI note value sent to it, and most MIDI footswitches send a program change value. (please feel free to correct my layman paraphasing where applicable!) Does anyone know of someone who would be able to make up a MIDI footswitch unit as a custom job? Would it be possible for someone who knows what they're doing to mod a cheap MIDI keyboard to have footswitches instead of some of the keys? It wouldn't really matter if the velocity/pressure sensitivity was sacrificed because of this. If anyone's got any ideas I'd be very greatful! Thanks, George
I've just built a midicontroller based around a PIC microprocessor to control my Source Audio Hub. It currently sends PC commands, but the software could be adapted to send other messages. It's pictured on the bottom left, I'm just waiting to get some aluminium sheet so I can fold my own enclosure (need a more up to date pic of my board to, I have another soundblox unit on it now)
2.
Yes bank transfer is fine. Thanks. I will PM my bank details to you.
all done and dusted, thanks Mike
3. I'll take this if I can pls, is bank transfer ok?
4. So I've just built a midi controller to control my source audio hub + OFD, and I'm looking for a more suitable case than the aluminium U channel it currently resides in - I'm looking for something around 1 1/2'' x 2 1/2'' x 12'' or thereabouts. I've included a pic for reference (it's on the bottom right of the board) . Anyone got any suggestions? cheers
5.
Is there any way of syncing this thing to midi?
one of these will do it http://www.gak.co.uk/en/source-audio-midi-hub/97696?gclid=CjkKEQjwzv-cBRD_oY2PouKVvMIBEiQAKuGNCwYU-uGOlIOqEVZec4XFLNWTZlIP5Xwo7s1R4dDND2zw_wcB
6.
Steve, sorry for delay. I can't find any technical information re impedance, all I can say is as it's an active mixer it should handle a wide range of sources. Will post for £15.00
No worries, thanks for getting back to me. My board has moved on a bit now so I no longer have any room for it
7.
This is ideal for playing at very high volumes and the microphonic design means it picks up fingerboard noise too so it's favored by rockabilly types as well as loud bands Here is quite frankly a very scary video of a man playing one!
<runs away>
8. hmmm, thinks ..... any idea what the input impedance is?
9. I have the MB112-II, I bought it originally to use with my Blues Band for not so loud gigs, but ended up using it with the rock band too as it is so effing loud. My only minor criticism is it is very clean sounding, and i like a bit of 'fur' to my electric sound (which was resolved using an OD pedal), Sounds great with my upright as is.
10.
I'm in Manchester.
that's going to test my self control
11. Used to have one exactly like this (may even have been this one). Lovely bass, have a bump
12.
Dont forget to check out out genz and gk gear if you get the chance.
I use one of the new GK 1x12 combos, loud enough to keep up with a loud rock band, my only criticism is it is a little clinical sounding, but that can be rectified with a dirt pedal
13. Been a while since I was in this here neck of the woods, but i had a bottle of booze and half an hour spare so I thought I'd catch up. Great set of entries as ever, and eventually voted for the one that I both liked the most and thought went well with the image. Having said that, well done everyone
14. Hi Daz, i could potentially be interested in either of these, have you got any pics of them?
15. I downsized from an Ampeg PF500/PF115 rig to an MB112 - I had initially intended to use the MB112 for quieter gigs on double bass with my blues band and keep the ampeg for louder rock gigs (mic'ed up kit, two guitarists with stupid loud stacks) but the MB112 coped easily with that too, so I sold the ampeg.
16. bump, I'm after a decent fretless neck (or bass for that matter) so I might be interested in trades with cash either way depending on what's on offer. Nothing too pricey, I'm thinking a used squier VMJ fretless, or similar, definately inclined towards a jazz style. If it was sonic blue that would be a bonus
17. Just bought Mike's Source Audio OFD pedal. He's a great bloke to deal with - he was friendly, descibed the item accurately, and posted very quickly. As above, I would be happy to deal with him again cheers Mike
18. Yes it is, I'll see if anyone comes up with a trade to start with, but I'll give you first refusal if I do sell, cheers
19. For sale £70 shipped, this is the prized original model (not with the moustache) with the 15dB pad swicth, and even the Blue LED - alledgedly the best according to the OvniLab review here. My unit has no issues with output volume. can get some pics up if necessary trade options are here now sold
