1.
Congrats Skol / Urb and the gang. Another superb effort. 77 votes... what a great turnout.
+1, great effort all round
  2.
Can't believe this is still here. 500w of Ampeg tone in a head you can fit in a laptop bag. To clarify on reliability issues, I have used mine for double sets with the covers band (running through a PF115 and PF210) so around 2hrs at a time plus weekly 3hr rehersals since buying it and the ONLY issue I have ever had with mine was the protect circuit kicking in using a poorly wired 8x10 Ampeg cab once in a flea pit rehersal studio (speakers had been removed and replaced and lets just say the impedance wasn't what it said on the tin.
cheers, and.......................... b u m p
  3. nice, possibly a startrooper bass?
  4. I like the idea of critiquing other peoples tunes, I might jump in myself next month if I get the time. Having said that I try to leave comments on the souncloud track if inspired to come up with something a bit more helpful than "nice" which I overuse. And Garry, yes.... I'd be honoured erm, I do get to wear the trousers tho' don't I??
  5.
I'm also tempted by steve's composition as I think he's a quality player and I greatly respect the musicality in all his pieces. Check out his youtube slap double bass clip - its awesome. Rob
Thanks very much for that Rob, kind of you to say so
  6. well I've listened to them all now, but I've not been able to whittle it down to a clear favourite so I'm going to have to ruminate over the next day or so.....
  7. I used this one with a nano http://www.gak.co.uk/en/diago-ps10-micropower9-pedalboard-power-supply/53929?gclid=CPbbg4LW_LcCFeTLtAodciwAYA
  8. just watched this (with the wife grumbling ), I'd forgotten all about Man - I'm going to have to revisit them
  9.
If I had the spare cash I'd have it as a backup for mine. Got mine from Andertons just over a year ago and I can confirm that (a) they sound awesome and ( I've had touch wood no issues with reliability - use mine for both gigs and for rehersals. Someone buy this
Thanks for this
  10. no worries, good luck with it
  11. Can you try recording into your mic input in your pc/mac to see if you can replicate the problem there? if you can that would remove the Boss unit from the potential list of culprits. Are the chords you're playing very dense with small intervals, it may be a select group of frequencied which are distorting?
  12. Are there settings on the Boss unit to determine the input type (i.e. line in or microphone for e.g) or possibly an input pad to reduce the level?
  13.
Hi Steve, Yes, of course; I'll add you to the list. There's a thread entitled "super silvers trial set", (about 9th or 10th down) could you add a post there saying something like "me too" - it just helps keep things in order so people know who's next. Ta! Daf
will do Daf, thanks very much
  14.
Yeh, nice one! Oh, by the way, and just for the sake of clarity, there are silver slaps and golden slaps which are the same string just with different colours; and then there are super silvers which are the same basic design as the slaps but higher tension. (I'll be putting a set of those up for test ASAP) Cheers, Daf
Can I put myself down on the list for these please Daf? I'm playing golden slaps atm but I think I'd like to try a higher tension slap string. Thanks
  15.
After having had work completely dominate my life for the last couple of years, and destroy my musical output, E made a decision a couple of weeks ago to gwt back into playing more. Ihave had my first bit of musical inspiration in ages...the trouble is, I've got a half idea and I'm really not sure whether it's really worth progressing, or whether it's just that my standards have dropped so much! I'm really hoping for some thoughts and feedback (purely a guitarpro export at this point, and please excuse my hideous attempts at adding drum tracks, but it sounds really lacking without!) https://soundcloud.c...tor/mightystorm Thanks!
Took a listen, there's some interesting musical ideas going on, but your right about the drums. I think the problem is that your thinking very linearly about them. You have two basic options IMHO, if the software your using it supports it you could use some pre-recorded drum loops, or if you're going to program them yourself, either import some MIDI loops or go on some drumming websites and find some info on basic drum patterns and rudiments. To program drums, you have to think like a drummer (not that I am one). Good luck, but don't give up on it tho
  16.
I think that may have been the same year I went. Skid Row, Slayer & the Almighty played in '92.
Slayer were definately on, now I think about it, more events are coming back to me. I spent the entire Iron Maiden set sat way off at the back of the site around a campfire with a bunch of strangers, and I'm sure that a nearby hotel had the dubious pleasure of our patronage
  17. I went one year, can't remember which one. All I know is that Iron Maiden were on, possibly Skid Row (who I wasn't particularly interested in) and we drove round the campsite surfing on the roof of a hired transit van
  18.
gutted had i seen this before ordering my shiny new markbass stuff id a snatched yer arm off ;-) best of luck with the sale
that's a shame, cheers anyway
  19.
MB1. Hello Steve! Rodacademy is looking for the exact gear in "Items Wanted!"
Hi Martin, hope you are well, I've just seen that and replied, thanks very much for theheads up tho'
  20. price reduction to £550, or close offers NOW SOLD I've decided to downscale even more as I'm doing more upright than loud rock electric gigs at the moment so a smaller combo with PA support is the way to go for me. As a consequence I moving on my lovely portaflex rig. I've had it for around 12 months, it's done plenty of gigs and I've had absolutely no issues with regard to unreliabilty. Sounds fantastic, chuck another cab underneath it and it easily copes with a very loud rock band (mic'ed up kit through the PA ffs ) Here's the pics Cosmetically, there's a scuff on the front edge, and two of the screws are missing from one of the castor brackets, which had worked loose. Castor bracket is now firmly reattached and good to go. I really don't want to split these, unless somebody wants to arrange a kinky menage-a-trois of some shape or form and I'd much prefer cash on collection, which could be from my house, where I'll chuck in a brew, or the band rehearsal room, where the buyer will be able to crank it up a bit. Maaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyybe open to a bit of light haggling, maaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyybe a px, but I definately need some cash my way in any kind of deal. I'll have a think about trade fodder, but in the mean time, what have you got? Oh, and don't forget to vote in the BC composition competition [s]each vote for my entry will reduce the price by £5[/s]
  21.
OK so here is my attempt this month. Unfortunately I still haven't got around to buying any proper recording gear so its another video with rather limited video camera internal microphone sound quality... I may change my strings and re-record this later on in the month but thought I'd better post a version now in case I get drunk and forget. Rob
Enjoyed that Rob, there was some nice stuff happening with the layers you were building up, I'd be interested to hear where you were taking this if you had some kind of DAW setup so you could include extra song parts
