I wanted to find a message from a while back without trawling through lots of pages, but when I use the search bar on the side of the My Conversations page, it just gives me a 405 error. Not sure if there's an alternative method I'm not spotting. (Checked on both Chrome and FF, running W7 just in case it matters.
I've been experiencing this lately too

I've recently completed my mixed discipline degree in Music and Pure Maths with the Open University, so I have some extra teaching slots available. There's more info on my website, Manchester Bass Lessons but basically I charge £20 per hour, and tailor the lessons to your requirements. Areas covered can include playing posture and technique; scales, theory and harmonic analysis; instrument setup; reading music etc I can provide a bass or double bass for the student to use in the lesson if bringing your own instrument is problematic.

Bought off here some time ago, I'm using a different system so this is now available. new they are in the region of £300 http://www.jp-guitar...Bass_Max_System issues worthy of note:- 1) little bit of velcro on the back where it was on a pedalboard 2) the velcro used to attach the mic stem to the bridge is still on the bridge on my bass, and won't come off, so the buyer would need to source some more 3) the wire which makes the mic stem bendy has snapped inside its shrink wrap sleeving, so a little bit of a fix is needed there, nothing a little bit of ingenuity couldn't resolve. with this in mind I'm looking for around £120 + shipping. Pictures to follow Now sold
True but they are all slapping against the background of loud guitars and drums. Seems like overkill for a jazz/fusion guy!
fair point
I remember seeing him on telly in the early 80's and he had this plexi-glass sphere covered in small speakers?
i definately need to see pics of that

I think some of the rockabilly and psychobilly guys use standard bass rigs, with various techniques employed to tame the feedback
in her view only whooremaisters (= blokes out for a sh*g) play in bands!
she must have been a great dancer (as my grandparents used to say!)

I use a Fender Rumble 15, which sounds surprisingly nice and is more than loud enough for house use. I think they're well within your budget

What's the surface of the bass fingerboard like? if it's painted, that could be the cause, in which case sanding the strings a bit might help
The guy in the second vid is really annoying !! Great basses though
I couldn't tolerate more than 2 minutes
I guess positioning a double bass safely requires an instinctive understanding of the laws of physics (centre of gravity and all that) and the total absence of bumbling punters and other musicians within 5 metres of the rig. But in the end, nothing beats a double bass for coolness, and Artisan's photo proves the point
Definately. the bass is fixed now and I'll start taking my stand with me and see how I fare with that

I leant my bass at a jaunty angle at a gig a few days ago just before we sound checked. Two minutes later when I turned my back it fell over and the headstock broke off (again, it has been repaired) so I had to do the gig with my precision, and then spend most of the following day fettling my other bass (which had steels on) so I could use that. I'll never lean my bass against anthing except the floor again, no matter how many times the drummer trips up over it.
