Any gig reviews on this yet? It's annoying there are so few clips on the internets only two more sleeps though.
gigged mine last night, all went well, got a really nice grindy drive for the songs that I play with a pick, used a couple of other patches that i knocked up yesterdsay afternoon (synth intro for dakota, needs work but did the job) and wibbly middle eight bit in Fire (Kasabian, not Arthur Brown). Small footprint was a godsend too as it meant it was under little threat from our vocalists manic gyrations
Ordered yesterday, arrived this morning. Looking forward to getting to grips with it when I get out of work.
Mine arrived today too, can't get better service than that so thanks to fxpedalss.co.uk for that one. First impressions are very favourable, and the patch editing software is really easy and efficient to use. Tried through my rig and all seems OK so I'll take it with me to tonights gig and use it (providing the introduction of new gear without prior rehearsal doesn't introduce too much panic from the other band members) My only potential criticism is that zoom havent included drain channels in the sides of the unit so that audience beer spills don't collect in the well where the control knobs are
  3. Bump for Mesa/Boogie 1x18 Boschma 2U shallow rack case both still available
OK guys, here's my (very brief) first impressions. This unit is better than it has any right to be at the price point. I haven't spent long with it, but the quality shines through. Obviously I was already familiar with the G3 and many things remain the same. It is refreshingly well tailored for bass and the effects are very usable. There are some very good compressors from subtle to squish. All of the overdrives, distortions and fuzzes have clean blends. And the amp sims sound good. I didn't take any notes so the ones that stand out in my mind as I write this are: 1) The Bass Big Muff: not only is it an accurate reproduction of the original, it also solves the volume issue with the clean blend. Very simply there is a separate parameter for clean level one top of the standard gain and level controls. 2) Sansamp model includes 'mid' frequency to avoid the sometimes too-scooped Sansamp sound. To me ears, though, the Ampeg SVT amp model sounded more 'Ampeggy' than the Sansamp. 3) The Gallien Krueger model sounded great and stood out for me among all the amp models. 4) Clean blended Rat anyone? Sounds very good. 5) Modulations sound good. A good variety of choruses/phasers etc so sure to be one that you'll like At £150, this is priced almost at 'beginner' level yet one could gig it quite happily. Sure, individual pedals will always win out (I hope so, or we're out of business ) but, for the money, this is brilliant. All the features of a Line 6 M9, tailored for bass and priced lower than the Line 6 M5. It's a winner!
I'm pleased I put in the order yesterday then, might try it at tomorrow nights gig if I'm feeling brave
  5. In reply to MB1's pm (Hi Martin ) It's a shallow rack case. Also of note is the back is a sliding cover, so this doesn't have rack mounting capabitlies on the front
  6. Selling this compressor as I no longer have need of it, no issues £40 + shipping SOLD preamp has already sold, Boschma 2U rack case £40 + shipping has a couple of holes drilled for cable ties to secure a fourway edit - compressor has now sold, could prolly do with this thread moving to "everything else for sale" if a mod would be so kind......
  7. I'm selling my M13 and PSU, upgraded with the latest firmware. It's played plenty of gigs, but always lived in a flight case pedal board, which is also for sale. Condition is good, apart from one control knob which is slightly loose, but still fully functional (happened in transit on its way to me).[s] I should also mention the black sleeving around the PSU output hass split, but the cables themselves are fine. Bit of electrical tape and bob's yer U.N.K.L.E.[/s] Checke the cable and actually it's fine, don't know where that came from Price? I'll look for £275 + shipping for a quick sale of the M13, and £65 + shipping for the board. If you buy both, I'll do them for £325 + shipping. Don't particularly want to haggle as I think these prices are keen enough, happy to ship at buyers expense, but collection is always preferred. I'm looking for a maple precision bass neck for my 70's Antigua Precision body so I would be interested in a trade, with cash either way depending on what the neck was NOW SOLD - THANKS CHRIS
Stock is limited.
how limited??
  9. Shockmount sold privately, once the ebay sales have finished I'll put up individual sales threads for the remnants-type-bump
  10. I'm one of the previous owners, and it's a great sounding bass rig, very clear and deep. I only sold because I wanted to go down the valve route (which I've moved on from ), it is a reliable unit at a great price, and Jamie is a great chap to deal with. Somebody buy this
  11.
Hi Steve is the pre still up for sale. Regards Robbie.
Hi Robbie, the ebay auction is still running, so I'll let that run its course and see if it makes the reserve. If it doesn't, then yes its still for sale
  12. I have an old plywood db which i think is lovely, and I've always had favourable comments about it. If it sounds ok (but bear in mind you may well be able to improve on it with a bit of fettling) and plays ok, and looks pretty solid, I would personally take the gamble for that kind of money
  13.
PMd about the 266
replied
this is beautiful bump
thank you
  14. finally managed to get down to the rehearsal room to get some pics done. Nothing is powered up yet as we had a gig last saturday and we've not set everything back up, but at least you can see the gear pics on flickr - http://flic.kr/s/aHsjyadFFZ and one to whet your appetites I'll add some more comprehensive descriptions later
  15. that's a great price, I'd have bitten your hand off if I hadn't bought a new interface recently
  16. bump for interest in the strategy, individual pics of the rig parts coming soon......
  17.
'Tiger feet' was my second ever single -, after Hurricane Smith's 'Oh babe, what would you say'. So I was buying their records! Back on track, bump for a gorgeous bass
One of my very early one's too. Aah the smile it bought to my face when i heard the intro...... oh yeah, bump for a stunning bass
  18.
Hi Steve, your preamp is an SVT IIP, not an SVP II. I own an SVT IIP, the same model as yours and have owned the later SVP II and I can honestly say that the SVT IIP (yours) is a much, much better sounding piece of kit. These things are amazing and your price is great too. I would love the Strategy, is it Steve's old one? Good luck with the sale. Anyone who buys this pre will be very pleased.
Thanks Steve, I'll amend it - that's what I get for rushing (as usual) I got the Strategy from Umph, it was up for sale around the same time as Ste's. It works really well with Ampeg pre
  19.
Ahh mate, would love to have that preamp off ya but im strapped at the mo! Good luck with the sale. I will be keeping an eye just in case I come into some good luck.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you mate
  20. So I've gradually accumulated this monster rig, which sounds incredible with my indie rock covers band, but I'm now playing DB in a 50's style Chicago Blues Band as well and as a consequence need a rig with a more retro vibe. Can't afford to have two rigs on the go, so I'm unfortunately going to have to sell this to fund it's replacement. The rig consists of [s]DBX 266 XL -[/s] £40 NOW SOLD [s]Ampeg SVT II P preamp[/s] - £250 - NOW SOLD on ebay in a Boschma 2U rack Case (couple of holes drilled in the top where I had some cable ties in) - £40 [s]Mesa Boogie Strategy 400 stereo power amp[/s] - £400 - NOW SOLD on ebay [s]Touring grade (ie heavy) shockmount 4U case with integral power strip[/s] - £120 - NOW SOLD privately [s]Mesa Boogie 1x18 cab (speaker replaced[/s]) - £200 NOW SOLD and 1 (or 2 if i'm feeling precoscious!) BFM Omni 10.5s - £225ea It sonically dwarfs my two guitarists rigs (Boogie Dual Rectifier Combo with 4x12 extension cab and a Line6 Something-or-other with 4x12 extension cab) and miked up drums if needed, and is chest thumpingly load and deep. I'd love to keep hold of it, and am currently trying to find ways to do so, but nothing so far. The prices listed are what I paid for the items (mainly from here) and what I'd like to get back for them - except for the Omni's which were built by me and while I have added a price, I won't be dissapointed if they don't go and won't be pushing their sale particularly. Prices don't include postage (where that's an option). I'm happy to split but If someone wanted to buy the whole lot in one go or multiple items, I can knock some off the combined price. That's the only pic I have at the moment, I'll get some decent ones up asap
  21.
.......but alas i don't really have the room in my little house + i'm reliant on my brother for lifts to gigs/rehersals.
none of that matters at all, get one anyway
