1.
Those Allegros do look pretty sweet. I'm suprised how few semi-acoustic EUB's there are, as with the Allegro, I would've thought a small bit of resonance room would help it sound less electric. Are there any makes other than BSX that do this?
Gareth Flatlands on here has just bought an Artisan that has a small hollow body eub, his post is somewhere near this one in the DB forum
 2. I hope you're having a tort guard with that
 3.
My guitarist will hate it,
they all do which is even more of an incentive
 4. great stuff, I hope you enjoy it. as far as strings go, I'm selling some belcantos
 5. I have a set of Belcantos which have been on my bass for around 3 months which I'd like to trade, ideally for a set of Evah Pirazzis, or sell for £100
 6.
Anyone had any experience of these? There's one on ebay at the moment but I can't find much details on reading around. Considering it as it's around the £250 mark at the moment and it's in my home town of Chester where I'm headed next weekend anyway to see the folks.
I used to have one of these a few years ago, and ended up trading it on here. it was around 3/4 size and sounded more EUB than DB, but it was a good first step into the world of DB, I was almost tempted to bid but I need my cash for other things. The body is some kind of hardboard that could almost have been moulded rather then shaped, all IIRC I did one gig with it, and heard someone from the crowd say "what the f**** that?" when we took to the stage
 7. Think I saw an app called 'bass fretboard addict' or something like that which might (or might not) do what you're looking for
 8.
There are many ways of getting backing tracks. 1 Buy some of the Abersold Playalong books . They come with a Cd and you can turn the bass off . 2 Download midi files. There are thousands out there . 3 Make your own using Garage Band or equivalent sequencer. 4 If you have an iphone the Real Book app (about £3.00 or so) contains about 800 tunes which have built in backing tracks. Just wire it up to your Hi Fi and voila ...your own virtual rhythm section.
I really like the iReal Book, I have it on my iPad, altho the latest version doesn't have all the fake book tunes for copyright reasons, but they are apparently downloadable from the app website
 9. Bought Keiths K&K Golden Trinity DB pickup. Very easy transaction, and the pick up is great. Keith's a great bloke - I'd be happy to deal with him again cheers mate
 10.
Uh oh, there's the first uncomfortable rubbings of sand in the collective basschat vagina this morning. Watch out people, this could be an eventful week.
it's a bit early for mental images like that nice looking bass, good luck with the sale
 11. As the title says, I have an FW410 which I cannot use as my new laptop doesn't have firewire, so I'm after a USB interface. I'd like at least 4 separate audio ins, midi would be nice but not too fussed. Or buy it for £100 ONO tia
 12. shame I'm not closer or I'd have come round to have a look at this
 13. f*** me, that looks fantastic
 14.
Would have been funny if it turned out you were having a bidding war against each other
only for the seller
 15.
£562!!! That is one hell of a good price, for one hell of a good bass. Anyone smiling round here?
Unbeknown to me, my wife was bidding on this for me, but was outbid at the last minute as she was at work. She'd put a max bid of £550 but couldn't follow it at work.
 16. ...... but definately go straight for double bass, I toyed around with EUBs for a couple of years without taking them seriously, until I got a real one, can't get enough of it now
 17.
I don't reckon there's much to be gained by learning ebass first. Go for the upright from the outset! There's also a stunning Artia B+H bass on ebay at the moment. I have one, very very good entry level basses. £410 with a day to go. Worth a grand I'd say. ebay
shhhhh, I've been watching that!
 18.
Steve - bear in mind that the examples here are just the basic notes you might play with these chord changes. Try adding in some of the things we discussed at the last lesson, like skips, left hand pizz and triplet rakes, to bring the part alive.
Will do, cheers
 19.
Would you be interested in a trade for a K&k Golden Trinity pickup, mic & pre amp?
sent you a cheeky pm
 20. Could well be interested in this if I can work out if it will fit my adjustable bridge, and if Mr Bassman doesn't take it
 21. Great stuff Pete, I'm going to get stuck into this over the next couple of days
 22.
Yep - that's what I've tended to do. Problem is, we can't even always agree on the roots!
Sounds like you're at a bit of an impasse, what's the band dynamic like? Does the songs originator put the songs out to the band to be modified by jamming/ discussion etc, or is it a case of "it's my song, play it like this"?
 23. If I was in that situation I'd start with roots, and then wait for everyone else to sort themselves out before fleshing out the rest of the the bass parts
