Played this bass at a previous moffat bass bash for a quite a while as a temporary fix whilst waiting for my ACG to be completed. Mine is similar in a lot of respects, 6 string, same pickup layoput (albeit with slightly different positioning), recurve body shape (altho' mine is an SC). Giblett, I think you must be mad to sell it. If it's a fund raising process, there must be something else you own which you could sell in its place. Mine (and therefore this one) is by far and away the most comfortable bass I've played - it just hugs your body on the strap, if you see what I mean . (I won't even bother to comment on the previous post questioning a flat board). I've previously owned Fender Jazzes, a Precision, a vintage 'ray, a Bongo, an early Roscoe etc etc etc, and this is the only bass that has held my interest for more than a few months - this is reflected at gigs too, I always get positive comments about how it looks or sounds - even from guitarists. They feel great and sound great, now stop being daft and reconsider before someone else buys it and you end up regretting it

I use er20's, helps me to hear myself when the two guitarists in my band are gertting a bit over excited, but I keep promising myself some moulded ones.
Best to start work on these with a teacher present. As you say you have difficulty telling whether you are in tune, then you are still really feeling your way around the instrument. A decent teacher will put a lot of these seemingly random exercises into focus for you.
+1, that's what I'm doing, and I'm convinced my playing is benefitting from it. It's one thing just to plough through page after page of endless melodically dull exercises by yourself, but without feedback and correction from someone who has the appropriate experience, you won't necessarily develop an accurate a picture of where you're strentghs and weaknesses lie. I find lessons make my practice more productive and efficient

I've been using reason on and off for a few years, and got record about a year ago, but haven't used them much. I do prefer Record to Cubase (which I also have), but I find the whole process of recording on a PC a bit un-musical and frustrating, so I never get anything completed. I'll probably sell the PC software at some point. I've just started looking at multitrack recording on my ipad, and found a really nice drum sequencer (DrumTrackHD) which will export wave files into a multi-tracking app (called MultiTrack spookily) which works with the iRig. Pros - working using the ipad screen is much better than mouse and keyboard for me personally - it's obviously more portable Cons - the multi-tracking app doesn't yet have any effects for mixing, so unless theres an upgrade soon, I'll have to mix each track in another app independantly, which will be a lot of faffing, or dump them all into reason to mixdown, assuming I get that far. sorry, bit of a thread-hijack but once you're on a roll......
I've seen a lot of vids that didn't look too competent. Are there any you'd recommend? I had a lesson a coupla weeks ago (well worthwhile), but although i was shown how to hold the bow etc, I'm getting bad pain. So it's either quit bowing until the next lesson two weeks away or try to find the problem now. Thought the right vid might help. Thanks for any suggestions.
why not just send your tutor an email and see if they can make some suggestions?
Line6 G50 User, five string active basses tuned BEADG. No problems with mine. I get to go for considerable little walks with mine (its a band thing) and have yet to suffer signal drop out. To answer your specific questions: 1) I have not had a single problem with signal drop or interference including playing in venues that offer a free wifi hotspot for their customers. 2) Soundslive in Newcastle were selling the separate transmitter packs, but I haven't been in for a while (GAS avoidance) so cannot be sure of current stock. 3) Yes, the transmitter comes with a metal clip for attaching to your strap/belt/etc. Hope this helps
1) +1 here, soundwise I can't fault mine 2) can't comment, I got mine used on here 3) I have issues with the strap clip, didn't really work with my mono strap, and I lost the tx unit on two separate occasions at different gigs. The tx dropped onto a solid floor on one of them, but wasn't damaged in any way. I ended up buying a pouch to solve that little problem
Get some gigs and use that money to pay for more lessons?
that's what I'm doing, but using electric gigs to play for upright lessons, sounds a bit kinky really

quick update, I decided it would be nice to get rid of the relief on the headstock from the decal, so I ended up pouring a thick coat of tru-oil over it (after e few thin coats had hardened) and leaving that for a couple of weeks to harden. I've just sanded it back and then wet-sanded with more tru-oil, I'll update again in a few days if anyone is interested.

Steve and his ACG Singlecut 6, a truly stunning piece of woodworking! (and luthierism) Cheers, Mick.
