not sure about the gr-20, but my hexpander setup works great with my VB-99.
Yeah, I believe so. I don't think I can run to getting one of those in the forseeable future tho'

I'm looking for advice regarding the compatibility of a Hipshot Piezo bridge and graphtec hexpander board to drive a Roland GR-20. I've contacted both Graphtec and Roland, Graphtec were pretty vague saying it would, but not as well as the with a GR-33, (which I thought was superceded by the GR-20) and as yet Roland haven't graced me with a reply. Anyone have any direct experience running this kind of setup? TIA
has anyone used any THD Hotplates ? I understand they plug in between your valve amp head and speaker cab so you can drive the amp hard and then turn the signal down so it is not too loud but still gives you the desired tone. what do people think of them ? im thinking of geting one as my amp is mostly used in a small ish hall any thoughts greatly recieved
Our guitard used to use one with his Mesa Dual Rectifier Combo. He was having a repair job done to the amp and was advised either by his tech, or by Mesa via email, not to use a hot-plate. I don't know any more than that but it's food for thought

Easy Rock Covers To Learn Need Some Suggestions Please
steve replied to Rockbassix's topic in General Discussion
Cult - Sanctuary, very very easy = opportunities to jump around, and everyone knows it, I could probably think of more, if I hadn't had quite so much wine -
Traded my fretless P for Shauns Aerodyne - he's a great bloke to deal with, helpful and good with comms, i'd definately do another deal if opportunity arises cheers mate

What symptoms is it exhibiting? Have you tried plugging it in or running it from a battery? if it's completely dead. it could be a diode near the power socket has burnt out. open it up and have a look at the circuit board to see if you can see any burnt areas or split components. If it's intermittent, there could be a bad solder joint or loose wire. Take some pics and post them on here
Love a good Jazz project! Si
yeah me too, I've finally come to the conclusion that precisions aren't my thing
Looking good man. How did the refret go? Have you decided on a colour?
cheers, the refret was fairly painless - frets went in well and seem to be pretty level. As far as colours go I've been switching between sonic blue, daphne blue and surf green (all with a tort guard), without being able to decide on one for sure. I might give in to sentimentality and go for daphne blue simply because it's the name of our chicken that died when I was up in Moffat, just after I'd started the project

bought some tuners from Rich a while ago, forgot to post here - sorry mate! anyway, top bloke to deal with, packer extraordinaire, and helped me chase the package through the postal strike cheers Rich

made a bit of progress.... frets in, tuners and bridge on and strung up temporarily. I thought I'd see how it played before deciding how much time and effort to invest in it, and it's actually quite nice. Definately worth the effort so far. Next jobs are to complete the filing of the fret ends (it's not too bad now, but could be better) sand the back of the neck (too glossy) tru-oil (possibly staining first) the fretboard sand the body ready for the paint

One guitarist, our singer and myself are all within about 3 miles, but our drummer does a 60 mile round trip (at least) and our other guitarist must be doing around 35-40 mile round trip
Wow, those inlays sound cool, very unique Sorry about the drugs, I blame Peter Eude

Okay I'll fess up
OMG, I turn my back for five minutes and my build thread gets hijacked by people advocating hard drugs... hmmmm that might actually be rock n roll
Piezo and Hexpander? Wow Steve, that's gonna be one hell of a versatile bass! What are you doing inlay-wise? Eude
Yeah, I've just fitted a GK3-B to my trb, and I have a Roland guitar synth incoming, so I'm thinking it would be nice to have the midi capabilities without all the pickup gubbins on the outside spoiling the lines. It's not 100% definate yet tho'. The inlays are narrow blocks of camphor (same as the top) instead of side dot markers that will extend along the top of the fingerboard to under the B string if that makes any sense
I think we're going to be collecting our bases at almost the same time judging by our matching updates......looking good. D.
Yeah, it looks that way, altho' I'm waiting for my fingerboard to come back from having some inlays done, and Alan is also looking into fitting a piezo bridge and hexpander, so I'm not sure if that will set my eta back a bit
It just gets better from hereon in
I know what you mean, it's starting to look more like a bass in progress instead of some nice bits of wood now
