Hi Mark I thought I'd give you a quick update, I spend a few minutes with this most days, I'm currently working up to 175bpm with No1 (I confess I've not started with both fingers yet - on my to do list) but I do think it has tightened up my technique. A quick question, when you started with these, did you work on each one sequentially to get them up to your target bpm or all three (nos 1,3,4) at the same time? cheers steve

I bought Gafs Shine 6 string. Surprisingly good bass for the cash, and Gaf is great to deal with. He got the bass shipped to me dispite an occupational medical incident! Cheers Mate

have you tried rubbing a bit of wire wool up and down the neck to get rid of the glossy stickiness?

[/quote] We played the same place a few months ago and i didn't have this problem, for some reason we were a lot louder this time. The ER20's have clear plastic bits that stick out of yer lugs, and on this occasion they would have been noticeable (and the punters would've been asking for some )

Went down to London a few years ago with the family and dragged them down Denmark St, I think I was more disappointed than they were

I've used ER20's at rehearsals for quite a while now, but didn't use them at our last gig about a week ago because i didn't want to look like a kn0b. (it was a very cosy pub gig where the punters are within touching, or guitarists-head-kissing distance ). My right ear is still ringing worse than it use to, so it'll be ear plugs at gigs from now on. What I need to know is are the ER15/25's less conspicuous than the ER20's?

I couldn't decide between standard Recurve, S-type or Skelf for a while, then Alan announced the new Gallus shape, which confused the issue even more until he pointed out it's not at the production stage yet. I'm really happy with my choice now though.

great looking bass, I really like the bridge. I had a try of a fan fretted bass at the harrogate BB and the frets weren't as disorientating as I was expecting

have the gaps where the frets used to be been filled?

After trying two harlots, a recurve and a skelf, and a chat with Alan at the Harrogate Bass Bash, I've paid the deposit for an ACG. The specs are Recurve S-Type 6 string 35'' scale length SB pup at the bridge, RFB pup at the neck ACG 01 pre Camphor top and back with a black accent stripe and a ash core (possibly with black pore-filling on the edges) pale moon ebony board 7 piece neck wenge/maple/wenge/flame sycamore [attachment=21236:woods.jpg] the fretboard blank we'll be using [attachment=21237:fretboards4.jpg] needless to say, I'm very excited about the whole thing, and it's going to be fascinating seeing the developments over the coming months
