1. The pinstripe looks cool, I'll be interested to see how this develops. I do like the look of those distressed pups
 2.
Here we go again. Whats up? Is it a case of "I can only afford a cheap bass so anyone with an expensive bass is a c***"? I dont have to apologise to anyone for my GB's - I can afford them and thats all there is to it. They look, play and sound fabulous. Better than a Squire VMJ? Yes in my opinion. YMMV
+1, we don't need to justify what basses we have on here (save that for our WAGs )
 3. Hi Mark I thought I'd give you a quick update, I spend a few minutes with this most days, I'm currently working up to 175bpm with No1 (I confess I've not started with both fingers yet - on my to do list) but I do think it has tightened up my technique. A quick question, when you started with these, did you work on each one sequentially to get them up to your target bpm or all three (nos 1,3,4) at the same time? cheers steve
 4. Still on the lookout for the right skin beater if anyone knows anyone
 5. complete and utter waste of someones time and resources.
 6. Paul bought my Hohner B2A - he's a top bloke and quick payer, Cheers mate - enjoy the bass
 7. Stingray + original neck sold Deal pending on the Status neck
 8. I bought Gafs Shine 6 string. Surprisingly good bass for the cash, and Gaf is great to deal with. He got the bass shipped to me dispite an occupational medical incident! Cheers Mate
 9. have you tried rubbing a bit of wire wool up and down the neck to get rid of the glossy stickiness?
 10.
No I'm using standard two finger technique. You can use the Garrison technique but efficient muting at higher speeds becomes an issue. Mark
blimey, you've got up to 200bpm with just two fingers?
 11. A quick question Mark, are you using the Garrison four finger thing for these exercises - I'm assuming so
 12. it's a beauty, the wood pup covers look quite olde worlde - but in a goode waye
 13.
Like someone has already said on here, they do let a bit more bass through than top so I don't need to turn my rig up so loud to hear myself.
Or as I prefer to do, turn the bass up as loud as you can get away so you can drown the guitars out
 14.
Much less - they are totally flush or even recessed within your ear. Alex
thanks
As far as I'm aware, the ER15/25s won't be any less conspicuous than the ER20s as the only difference is in the attenuation. If you don't want to look like a knob, what are you doing on a stage?
- normally hiding behind our singer
Seriously, unless you're actually standing right next to someone, I really wouldn't call any of the various options conspicuous and, FWIW, I reckon your hearing is a little more important.
We played the same place a few months ago and i didn't have this problem, for some reason we were a lot louder this time. The ER20's have clear plastic bits that stick out of yer lugs, and on this occasion they would have been noticeable (and the punters would've been asking for some )
 15. Went down to London a few years ago with the family and dragged them down Denmark St, I think I was more disappointed than they were
 16. I've used ER20's at rehearsals for quite a while now, but didn't use them at our last gig about a week ago because i didn't want to look like a kn0b. (it was a very cosy pub gig where the punters are within touching, or guitarists-head-kissing distance ). My right ear is still ringing worse than it use to, so it'll be ear plugs at gigs from now on. What I need to know is are the ER15/25's less conspicuous than the ER20's?
 17.
Possibly
now I'm curious!
 18.
Interesting, would I use standard wood filler?
I did this years ago, and got some thin strips of light coloured veneer from a furniture restoration shop and just glued them in - instant fretlines
 19.
I had a defretted Jazz bass for a little while and the fret gaps weren't filled in but you couldn’t feel it at all when you played it. It was very professionally defretted before I got my mucky mitts on it though
I read on some forum or other (don't think it was this one) that not filling in the gaps could cause the neck to bow when the strings were tightened
 20.
Great news Steve, glad to see that you went for one of Alan's creations and I'm sure you'll love both the bass and the whole creation experience. Peter - who speaking to Alan in a couple of weeks about some ideas.
I hope your conversation won't result in mine being delayed - I think production priority should be given to those who don't own an ACG yet Are your ideas in some way related to a post I saw about fretless Wals or is it to early to reveal?
Looks like it's going to be a stunning instrument. I do like the Recurve S-type shape.
Yeah, I think so. I couldn't decide between standard Recurve, S-type or Skelf for a while, then Alan announced the new Gallus shape, which confused the issue even more until he pointed out it's not at the production stage yet. I'm really happy with my choice now though.
 21. great looking bass, I really like the bridge. I had a try of a fan fretted bass at the harrogate BB and the frets weren't as disorientating as I was expecting
 22. have the gaps where the frets used to be been filled?
 23. After trying two harlots, a recurve and a skelf, and a chat with Alan at the Harrogate Bass Bash, I've paid the deposit for an ACG. The specs are Recurve S-Type 6 string 35'' scale length SB pup at the bridge, RFB pup at the neck ACG 01 pre Camphor top and back with a black accent stripe and a ash core (possibly with black pore-filling on the edges) pale moon ebony board 7 piece neck wenge/maple/wenge/flame sycamore the fretboard blank we'll be using needless to say, I'm very excited about the whole thing, and it's going to be fascinating seeing the developments over the coming months
