Hi Steve Thanks for your honest reply! I can't believe of all the people I've sent it to only one person has replied and been honest. They are not the most exciting exercises, but they are more musical than most, and they are difficult to get up to speed cleanly. It's an unavoidable fact that if you want to get better at something, strict formal repetition is the only way to get better at it. That's one of the reasons a lot of 'musicians' reach a plateau: they get bored of/with practicing. If your priorities lie with reading, fair enough, but I would encourage you to find exercises you don't find boring and get into it. Mark
I agree with everything you say above. I'm not in the happy position to be able to commit to a regular practice regime at the moment, which is a shame - that would make it easier to incorporate such as this. As it is, I pick up my bass whenever I can (which is most days for varying durations, so it's not all bad) and have to concentrate on band material mainly, with some reading practice on an opportunistic basis. Not ideal, but at least it's regular.
I'll bring an ACG headless 6 and fretless 5.
I'm very intterested in having a look at these! I can bring stuff from my sig if antone wants to see it - I have a little Fender Rumble practice amp with a headphone out that I can bring too -
Hi Mark, I was one of those you sent them to. I have to confess i didn't get very far with them because (without wanting to sound ungrateful) I found them a bit dull tbh. I don't get much practice time for stuff like this so I had to prioritize, and improving my reading needs to come first - but thanks for taking the trouble to send them.

that's a great link cheers - so what kind of instruments are we looking at in the (extended) bass range besides trombone and cello?

Quite short and not too complex.
Yeah, I'd be interested in having a look thanks, I'm crap a tapping tho' so they'll hopefully be easy

hi, so I'm looking to try out some more classical stuff, I've got plenty of Bach, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions and/or transcriptions by other classical composers?
First I actually ASKED for slippers for Christmas and now I have started to think about a nice sunburst precision?!!!?? Noooooooo! I've even decided that the two bands I'm in (check my sig! Esp useless wooden toys!) will be my last originals bands!! I always wondered when I got 'bass old' and I consider this to be it! I'm even happier having LESS basses than I did!! If anyone has a sunburst fender or squier p going über cheap or fancies a partial swap for my cheap sixer, now might be the time to pm me before I have further crisiis (how exactly do you spell cry-seas??) and decide I need a flying v in metallic blue or something! On another note try to be hold of the album kon and amir off track vol 1 - the Bronx, Serious funk bass heaven!
I share your pain, well most of it, I've firmly resisted all suggestion of buying slippers, and looking on the bright side, there is life after sunburst Fenders,

here's my blueburst ray, traded with Magee from the forum for a fender P. Now with a Status Graphite neck maybe up for sale soon, as I'm leaning towards 6's more now

I've had 3 - two jazzes (one an aerodyne) and one P. They were all good basses, but ended up not doing it for me. I agree with the market position mentioned above, and they over-price on that basis. I won't have another one, icon or otherwise.
How about 490? I'll take it for that price if you'll help ship it to Paris at my expense. Thanks RC
Sorry mate, that's too much of a price drop. I have interest from the US at the asking price. If that deal doesn't go through, I can let you know, but you'd have to increase your offer a fair bit. Thanks anyway
This was a concern of mine at the last Bash and it proved to be ill-founded and I suspect there will not be many people just wondering in off the streets at this one. However at the risk of turning into Keith Lard (aka peter kay), H&S is everybody's responsibility so anyone not wearing a name badge is obviously a potential thief and should be challenged.......! I know some other measures are going to be put in place but to publicise them on here would be rather self-defeating! So, wear you badge with pride and remain vigilant!
Cool, is there much for non interested wifes/kids to do in the immediate area? Mine seem to have got the idea that they're coming along too
