Shure GLX systems. Build in accurate tuner on pedal board unit, clear battery level indicator on pedal board unit, long lasting rechargeable body pack, bullet proof construction, simple to use, no drop outs and zero discernible latency to my ears. It may not be the cheapest, but you’ll be getting a quality reliable wireless system that will last.

By far the best on the market IMO and I’ve owned a fair few. My only concern was the lead from pack to bass was a bit thin but better ones, again IMO, are easily sourced.

  2. Recently built by myself for a bit of fun with parts I had and some of my woodworking skills! Was going to be my back up for Foo Fighters tribute.

    Spec as follows-

    Olympic White P Bass.

Swamp Ash Body with nitro paint.

    Fender black relic pick guard.

    Badass II bridge.

    Gotoh Lollipop tuners.

Lindy Fralin 10% overwound pick ups.

Luxe loom with red dime capacitor. Amazing flamed maple and Ebony fingerboard neck.

    43mm nut and about 4.3kg.

    70’s decal.

    Strung with TI flats.

Suppose it could be parted out if enough interest.

    ** not a real Fender **

Collection welcome or can courier in a gig bag, neck off in the U.K. for about £30.

All the Shuker basses I have tried, felt dead and lifeless in my hands. It wasn't a question of of neck profiles or any single thing I could pin-point, just the overall feel of the instruments (to me) was completely uninspiring. Shuker instruments aren't the only ones that have elicited this reaction, but in all the other cases when I have felt this about an instrument it has been a single isolated case. It is only with Skuker basses that every single one I have tried felt "wrong".

I'm sure there are some Shuker basses out there that won't give me that reaction, but I haven't played them yet. That's why I suggested to the OP that they try some examples of the basses by the luthier they are considering for their build. After my Shuker experience I would never commission another custom instrument based on some nice pictures on a web site and a specification alone. I would want to try lots of instruments to ensure I have picked the correct luthier for me.

Hmm quite a sweeping statement about the Shuker basses. Well to put my slant on it, I commissioned a Flea / Modulus Inspired build from Jon without ever playing one of his basses. Communication was amazing, workshop visit was really eye opening and the end result far exceeded what I thought I would get, for a damn good price too. In fact it was so good I had another made exactly the same in a different relic finish. His instruments are absolutely beautiful and dead wouldn’t be a word I’d use to describe them.

Maybe you weren’t the right fit for the basses you tried 😉

  4. Handbox R400 in great condition. Amazing little hand built amp from Poland. The price includes next day U.K. postage. Selling as I just prefer my Ashdown, is just perfect!

    Handbox info-

The Handbox R-400: incredible tone in a hand-made, no-compromise head.'''

Simple to use, compact and lightweight, we created and refined the R-400 in collaboration with working musicians, using a wide range of active & passive basses.

    PREAMP:
The preamp utilises three 12AX7 (ECC83) tubes. Unlike the starved-plate designs of most common hybrid heads, it's pure tube with no silicon diodes, getting you even closer to the sound of a full-tube head.

    POWER SECTION:
We use a classic A/B power supply based on an efficient toroidal transformer and large capacity electrolytic capacitors, delivering a powerful 400W into a 4ohm load.
An optical limiter ensures you're always running within safe limits, and the R-400's on-board fan is thermally managed and controlled to ensure the amp runs smoothly at high volumes.

  5. Ah no! It’s an epic bass this and punches through the mix so so well. The Fralins and Dimarzio are a huge upgrade on the Lollars imo. The colour is epic and the refin by Dave Wilson is a thing of beauty.

GLWTS dude and sorry it didn’t work out for your needs
