Did you sell that in the last year or so? I remember seeing the sale thread, or maybe a thread in the eBay forum? And being very tempted by it. The horns don't look quite so pointy as the geetar SG, or is that just the pic? Same name, same logo. They'll have to work harder to fool my brain into buying one of their basses π I know they're good instruments really (as is everything they make), it's just a thing my brain can't work out.

I haven't got too many deal breakers.... Baseball Bat necks. I can deal with the nut being up to 44mm just as long as the neck isn't too thick back to front. Necks that taper to more than 54mm at the 12th. Only really noticed this one recently and it's my own fault for going down the dusty end. Anything that looks like it was designed after the 60s. G&L or MM type basses are all good, but anything too pointy or modern looking is a pass for me. Oh, and anything made by Yamaha. My brain just doesn't get on with the fact that they make calculators, motorbikes, turn tables, under water scooters etc. A company with that wide a range of products like that can't be good at making all of them. This would soon go out the window if they made an SG bass. That I'd be tempted by.

Blocks and matching headstock on (imo) Fender's best body shape? What's not to love? Congrats on the new bass! I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks.

I picked up a Hama Okamoto sig P bass since my earlier reply to this, but only because it's my ideal P bass, rather than any love for him. The only thing I know about him is that the newish pointy Katana is also his sig. I've checked out some of his music and it's not my cup of tea, but he has great taste when it comes to putting a sig together! Things I love about it...... It's a P with a J neck Vintage gloss neck Vintage frets It's light Things I like about it and are a nice touch...... Bridge cover Lollipop tuners

Help - Missing Travis Bean TB2000 - #391
Jonesy replied to nationofzeros's topic in General Discussion
Gutted for you. It's a lovely bass and I hope it ends up in its rightful place with you. Is there any tracking that says it got through our customs, or do you reckon it's in the states? -
I'm down on the Kent coast the week after next for a friend's birthday......just so happens that Part Chimp are playing in Ramsgate the night before so we're making a weekend of it. Can. Not. Wait.

A mate passed this on and I thought it might be worth a look for any Dingwall fans...... https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/news/141580/ TL:DR 7th April Sheldon Dingwall is chatting about basses in the Epsom guitarguitar. If you can't make it then you can watch it on the gtrgtr Facebook page.

Yeah, I think you're right and all of those will help add to the tone in some way shape or form. Not to get into the tone woods argument, but the all maple body would have a part to play too. However, I still want to have a go one day if I ever feel brave enough. I reckon the pups and positioning will play the biggest part and potentially get me in the same ball park. It'll def do for any gigs where I don't want to bring my Ric.
-
Or, if you were feeling creative then just buying some Ric pups from them and chucking them in a 2nd Squier. I've been toying with that idea for a while, but am a total hack when it comes to wood work! It looks like you could chuck them in a P and hide any mishaps behind a scratch plate
-
I can't say for sure, but it looks like a slab. It might even be worth giving them a shout and seeing if they can put some Ric style pups in a J or P body for you. There's a strat style body and that mentions available to custom order, so i'd say it's worth a shout if you were interested https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/retrovibe-t30-strat-bass-30-6-short-scale-metallic-blue-gorgeous/

@Linus27 ^ What Steve said π It works perfectly fine, but it is a bit bulky. I've been toying with the idea of using a different mains power cable, but laziness combined with the fact that it works well as is has kept me using the one it came with
-
You mean like this? https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/retrovibe-t32-telenbacker-bass-32-medium-scale-hot-yellow-with-black-binding-and-hardware/ I really love the yellow (there are other colour options available) and am constantly tempted by one of these.

I haven't used the tourtech, so can't comment on it but, like others have said, noise would be where a cheaper daisy chain would potentially let you down. I use a diago power station for one board and it's a noise free daisy chain type supply. It's fairly spenny as far as daisy chain options go though, but not too bad 2nd hand. For my other board I use a Harley Benton PowerPlant ISO 5 and would highly recommend it. It's chirpy cheap, fits under my pedal train nano, noise free and has 2 outputs with the option of 9v/12v/18v - perfect for running my catalinbread SFT at 18v without an extra psu

You lasted a lot longer than I thought you would to be fair π

I mean, that reason is close to impossible to argue with and one I've used before when the Mrs asks why I want a new bass. It makes a lot of sense! However, part of my excuses reasonings as to why I want a new bass is that I want different flavours, they do different jobs or sound different. This way I can fool my brain into justifying a new bass. So having 5 of the same flavours is almost taking away that excuse reason for buying a new bass.
-
That sounds like a lovely collection! Do you mind me asking why you have 5 that are pretty much identical though? Different tunings? Some for flats & some rounds? Only asking because it's the complete opposite of my way of thinking and I'm curious βΊοΈ

I like to mix mine up a bit and most of my basses sound totally different (to me, anyway) Eg. I tend to swap between a Ric and SG for my blues band and am happy enough with a tone in the ball park of what I'm after rather than trying to replicate 1 tone across both basses. I never really saw the point in having multiple versions of a bass that does the same thing and enjoy the variety of playing different basses. However, if I was in anyway near a remotely serious band then I could see the point in having a backup bass that could replicate my main bass. And you better believe I'll have loads of Ric's if I came into some money. I can also see the point of having 2 basses for flats and rounds etc

I was hoping for a poop reference and there it was in the first line. I wasn't disappointed π I've got a dodgy ligament in my ankle and was wondering about something similar recently. How about one of these .... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B074MBK2XD/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_P934PPTXXX11W3MHQRTX Doesn't look as comfy as a proper guitar stool, but it does have a back rest and is foldable. So maybe a rock n roll cushion could be used to up the comfort factor?

I'd quite happily throw my money at a St Vincent bass. It's one of the coolest designs out there and I wish they followed through on that rumour of a bass model going into production. The Albert Lee and Mariposa are great designs too.

I was just window shopping on guitar guitar when I stumbled across these....... I'm not usually a fan of that capri orange, but it looks really good with the stripes. The vintage tint headstock almost looks matching too. I haven't played any of the Affinity Jaguars, but reviews I've seen online haven't been great and my first bass was an Affinity......which I don't have fond memories of! Shame the CV Mustang isn't pink with a matching headstock, that combo would be pretty nice.
-
They're pretty good little gadgets for home practice. There's threads here and on TB with tonnes of patches for them too, so there's no shortage of tinkering you can do. I only use a handful of them, but it's good to know I can play with it if I was after a particular tone
-
Zoom B1 FOUR. Pretty cheap, does what you want and has a load of effects to play with too
-
Yeah, I'm with the general consensus from the thread and reckon any other Fender headstock would probably look better on it, with the Starcaster being my favourite. Still, I don't hate the headstock they've been released with - my issue is with the price and them being active. PMT have them on their site for just under Β£1k (and still a 3 month wait!). If they were nearer Β£650-Β£700 and passive then I'd be finding it difficult not to buy one.

It's a bit of a minefield and I'm going no way near Maruszczyk π Ones I'm fairly confident on are...... Lakland - I've heard Geezer Butler call his sig bass lake-land. Unless it's a brummie thing then I reckon that's right! Babicz - bab-icks Mayones - my-on-ez Sadowsky - sad-oww-ski
