Gibson Les Paul Junior Tribute DC Short Scale BARGAIN !!
Jonesy replied to Adee's topic in Bass Guitars
That's a really good price on a great little bass, if I hadn't just bought a new bass I'd be all over this. I had a blue one from Bax earlier in the year and thought it was fantastic, the neck is lovely and it sounds pretty great too. The only reason I returned it is that my brain couldn't justify having a Gibson as a back up. -
The Terror is pretty much par for the course when it comes to stoner/doom/metal anyway, so I'm even more confused about what their issue was!?!? I'm not sure what sort of venues you plan on playing or what sort of state you plan on getting in after the gig, but that would be a factor for me when deciding on your purchase. My Ric only really leaves the house for blues jams when I know I won't be drinking too much and I know it won't be left unattended in a dingy back room for most of the night. For those kinda gigs I prefer a cheaper bass that I'd be less annoyed about if it got pinched.

They price matched my one the other day, but the black one was in stock at Andertons at the time
-
3 pages in and not one pair of socks???
-
Ahhhh, that IS exciting news!!!! If you don't mind me asking, where did you end up getting it from in the end? Only because I can't find it in stock anywhere and want to ogle some pictures!! The body is poplar according to the G&L site, although a few retailers have them listed as basswood - so who knows? Either way, the body wood makes no difference to the tone, so it doesn't matter ðĪŠ ð

If.........if I had spoken to them, which I'm not saying I have, then I would have been tempted to ask them about the black frost and price matching Andertons. But, of course, I'm not saying that happened. Or didn't happen.

Thanks for all the replies. I can neither confirm nor deny that I've spoken to GuitarGuitar and this may become a NBD thread in a few days........ðĪ
-
Thank you, sounds like it's the same neck on my Tribby JB. Hmmm, decision time!
-
Hullo! I was wondering if any SB2 tribute owners out there could do me a favour and help me out with a quick measurement....... I know it's 38mm at the nut, but if anyone could let me know the width at the 12th fret then I'd be extremely grateful. Having seen the NBD threads from @RussFM and @Lfalex v1.1 as well as the various other new G&L threads, I think there may be a NBD thread on the way if the above measurement comes in about right ð Thanks!!

Yup, saw it this morning. It's both lovely and pretty tempting! So you're saying you're going to look into a custom order from G&L?? ðĪð

Don't worry, something musicman shaped will come up to tempt you and I give you until March for you to have a new amp ð I have a few bits I'd be tempted by should they come up........ I regret selling my Epiphone thunderbird classic pro, the pups in them are great and the neck is nice and thin. If I could get my mitts back on it I'd be happy. I'm not sure on how sold I am on my Precision. It's one of the nicest P basses I've played, but I think the way it widens out around the 12th fret is what I don't like about it. I'm not up the dusty end much, but playing something like Lost Woman by the Yardbirds is where I really notice it. If I were to replace it, I think a JMJ Mustang or maybe a limelight p with a j neck would be nice. And maybe a small 1x 10 or 12 cab.......

Keep the Fender. That's mostly based on the fact my brain can't deal with a company that makes musical instruments, motor bikes, calculators, skis and computer chips. They can't be good at all of them. Surely. My brain knows in reality they're good at making all of the above............but there's still something that doesn't sit right with me ð

In: Gibson SG TI Flats Roto rounds Solidgoldfx Beta Catalinbread SFT Polytune tuner Pedal train nano Out: Epiphone Jack Casady GK1001 RB MK2 DOD meatbox Epiphone thunderbird classic pro. Really kicking myself for this and have pestered the guy about buying it back. Earlier this year I also bought and then returned a Gibson Les Paul Jnr. They're a lovely bass, but I couldn't justify keeping it as it wouldn't get used that much. I originally bought it to then sell my p bass, but preferred the p bass........which I'm now thinking about selling ð

Rather gorgeous and a great bargain!

Have you tried doing some window shopping and seeing what you could get if you sold the affinity and combined it with what you were going to spend on upgrades? Might be worth a look, especially if you wanted to make your budget go further 2nd hand. As others have said, you won't make that much back if you sold it after upgrades and you'd be better stripping it for parts if you did come to sell it. On the other hand, if all of this made your dream bass that you couldn't afford to buy outright and you're not fussed about making your money back then go for it. However, I wouldn't bother with the reshape or refinish and would just upgrade the pups and guts for now. Maybe look at tuners and bridge after I had lived with that for a while

I don't know what that Jazz went for, but the last 2 on ebay went for ÂĢ230ish and I've seen original run CV's for ÂĢ250ish if you keep an eye out. Except for the Fiesta red Ps, they always seem to go for north of ÂĢ450, seems a bit bonkers to me, but I guess it's the Pino effect??

I really love my SG bass, it's light, the body is very thin, the neck is lovely and everything else feels like a boat in comparison.
-
They've still got the SB2's reduced and they're mighty tempting. The new Kiloton in CAR is also reduced to pretty cheap at the mo.
-
Lovely stuff, really keen to see how it turns out. I love the Explorer shape and really want to get one, just to take to blues jams. That or a flying V ð
-
But if it's all black, then it's like - how much more black could it be? None, none more black. ððĪ
-
Hmmmm, I think it's nearly there. I've made a slight change. ð
-
It could also be changed to: "Absolute nobody, who nobody has heard of, doesn't engage brain when speaking" Granted Clayton is a lot more famous than Shah, but he's still a bass player and the majority of people wouldn't know who is and would walk past him on the street. ð
-
Both different basses though? Do you reckon the CV series will grow to become as expensive as the JVs?
-
Oh my, what a lovely pair! I'm not usually a fan of relic'd finishes, but have been coming around to them recently and those 2 are rather lovely. Great stuff! Really pleased that you're happy with it and that you've completed the set. If I ever see a roadworn looking sunburst stingray, I'll give you a shout! ð
