  1. I just did the same for a pedal I sent to Ireland and can imagine it'd soon become tiresome!!
  2. It wasn't that long in the whole grand scheme of things, the biggest delay was probably them actually shipping it. I think I placed the order on Jan 2nd, but only got a notification it was sent on the 6th, which isn't so bad considering holidays and the likely back log etc. It turned up on the morning of the 11th.
  3. Did they used to be RicsRUs? If so, I bought my 4003 from them in the early 2000's and would trust them.
  4. I thought it may have been filled at first, but looking at it again, it looks as if there's a screw head sticking out above the body on the left hand side. The 2 outer screws of the bridge that's on it are missing too. I wonder if that bridge is sitting on top of the original screws and screwed into the body?? It'd still probably be a better design than the original 3 point Gibson Bridge....... 😂
  5. It was pretty tempting, I could have collected it and have just sold 2 basses (so in my mind I'm allowed to buy a bass at the mo 😂), but I think I have my heart set on a Gibson shorty. Would have been quite nice to keep as is (partly because I'm sure my efforts at repair would have made it worse!) as long as everything worked. Could have been like a rat bass. Does anyone know what may have happened with the original bridge holes? Looks like they may have been filled?
  6. Did anyone here get it in the end?
  7. Great to hear and really useful feedback as I have 2 basses to ship out so will give interparcel a go. I also just sent an amp up to Edinburgh through DPD. It weighted about 17kg by the time you added the rack case and layers of underlay I wrapped it in, but turned up in good condition and the next day, so they seem to be worth a look through my experience.
  8. I got a pedal from DV247 and didn't get charged and VAT was a separate line on my invoice and in the cart. Maybe mine snuck through or there's some sort of threshold before customs look at it? VAT looks to have been applied to the neck though?
  9. No worries 😃 That Aria is nice looking too. I like that it's horns are ever so slightly pointier, like the Ibanez artcore range
  10. There's one of them for sale in Sheffield if you're keen... https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKBassgear/permalink/2149525221847468/?sale_post_id=2149525221847468
  11. Yep, there was VAT on a separate line of the invoice and at checkout
  12. So, after going through the various threads on the ins and outs of buying from the EU there were a few different opinions on what'll happen when you buy stuff. I was definitely confused. Anyway, I decided to buy a pedal and see what happens, so I bought from DV247 and the pedal was shipped from their warehouse in Germany. It arrived today, with fairly minimal delay and no extra charges. Whether that was because they have a UK shop, or if it means there won't be any charge from other EU sellers I don't know. Just thought I'd share in case anyone was wondering about buying from them and wasn't sure about charges etc.
  13. No idea what the shipping situation is like now and it's not sunburst, but...... https://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hb_60_wb.htm?o=63&search=1610316926
  14. What sort of budget are you looking at? And does it have to be the same sort of shape? I haven't played them, but have heard good things about the Hofner Ignition series.
  15. White Room by Cream. I've got the studio version down and am just noodling around with a live version now.
  16. I like this cover too. Although maybe it should be renamed 'While my guitar bawls in a rage' 😂
  17. Should anyone call the police? Does that leg belong to someone alive? When was the last time that duvet was cleaned? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1960s-Audition-Short-Scale-Bass/293805245471?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D5f15b8473ed54730b8e35520a88a15bf%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D265005418185%26itm%3D293805245471%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2060778&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507 So many questions!!
  18. I'll let Derek Smalls answer that one for you.....
  19. I'm not sure I've heard a cover of a Beatles tune that tops the original. Until now. You've kinda cheated there though in picking a terrible song in the first place 😂 Does The Dirty Mac's version of Yer Blues count as a cover? Just to go completely against what I said earlier about a cover being different, it's almost identical to the original, but Mitch Mitchell is always worth listening to and watching Yoko Ono trying to fight her way out of a bag is good value.
  20. Fair do's. Personally, some of my favourite covers are the ones that sound most unlike the originals. If I wanted to hear something that sounded like the original then I'd listen to the original song in the first place. I'm with you on SRV songs sounding fairly samey. But I think that can be said about a lot of blues artists. Reggae too, there's only so many riddims out there (to my ears anyway).
  21. Since when did a cover have to be 100%, or even 2%, similar to the original? It can be anything in between and would be fairly pointless if it was exactly the same as the original, no? 🤔
  22. You beat me to it! That cover was the first that sprung to mind when I saw the thread title. I really dig it. Sticking to the Bluesy theme - here's SRV covering 'Taxman'
  23. I think Scott Gorham is the closest to an original member of Thin Lizzy. Even then I think he joined about 3-4 albums in.
  24. Swamp ash is lighter than regular ash. No idea how different they are in tone
