Is it a non refundable deposit? You don't actually own the bass yet, so until it's delivered I'd say you're still in.

Are these lower tension? I'm a bit confused as to how these would feel, if they also suit a Cello - tuned in fifths from G - so are they a bit floppy?

Royal Blues at The Glad, that London last night. The evening started with my finding out I wasn't in the band pic on the flyers. A subtle hint maybe? Turns out only 2 pics from the photo shoot we did, were done portrait, and to make them fit the flyer I was cut off as I was at the end. I'm on the Instant Gram and other socials. The venue usually put on acoustic solo or duos, in my band there are 7 of us. So it was cosy in the stage area. I was using my Ibanez UB804 which was DI'd. The stage monitor is usually used for the acoustic gigs, so the bass couldn't be turned up too much, meaning it was another gig where I couldn't really hear myself. The guitarist had the same problem. Despite all that, the place was packed and the punters loved it, and the promoter is going to book us for a bigger venue. One guy said to me after "what you did on that bass was unbelievable". I chose to take it as a compliment 😆

Rather than start a new thread, I'll plonk this here. A vocalist in one of my bands has a £25 gift voucher for Rose Morris. She popped in before a gig to buy an XLR lead, only to find a whole raft of terms and conditions that make it difficult to use the voucher. It can only be used online (so add p&p). Rose Morris don't seem to care about purchases or footfall in their physical stores. The full amount of the voucher has to be used in one go. The £8 lead she wanted in the shop is not available online. There is online a lead which is half the length for £16. This all means no return visit to the physical store, no additional purchases, and negative feedback.

My solution. Tie scarves on the end of it... And wear a kilt!

Meant to post the obligatory gear pic, which for this gig was just the Ibanez UB804.

Royal Blues, at The Sindercombe Social, Shepherds Bush, last night. We'd sent our spec 5 weeks earlier, but there were still not enough mics and stands. Fortunately the guitarist had some in his car. TBF there was just the one chap running things and he was helpful, can't fault him. The venue bass amp didn't work, so I was DI'd. First gig with the upright. Ibanez UB804 → wireless → DI. At least for the soundcheck. When we were due to start there was no sound from the bass so I switched to a lead. The onstage levels were different from sound check and I couldn't really hear myself, which did affect my playing. But apparently it sounded great out front, and the UB804 got compliments for it's sound. The promoter was happy, and we were approached by another venue owner who wants to book us. And there were a couple of 'industry' people who liked us too.

I know nothing (pretty much in general too 😜) but I'll be keeping an eye on this.

I'm not trying that with an EUB! 🤣
