  1. Fuzzy McFuzzyface Dirty McDirtface Drivey McDriveface Tubey McTubeface Screamy McScreamface you can have all of them!
  2. Must be getting on for 4-5 years since I got mine. Sounds great at any volume, loud enough for any gig, keeps the character of any bass I put through it. Quite a small footprint too - 1u. Yup lovin' it. 😎
  3. Imagine how good he could have been if he'd picked with 2 fingers. *runs and hides*
  4. some valid points are made here: https://60cyclehumcast.com/2016/04/01/5-reasons-we-dont-need-electric-bass-in-church/ 😉
  5. not a church bassist - although I have played in churches - the main thing is the type of church. The acoustics in an old stone high vaulted church were lovely for classical guitar, but suck for bass. A more modern low ceiling building should present less problems acoustically.
  6. Glad to see you're playing a Precision!
  7. NYE gig Prince of Wales, Wimbledon. It's a regular gig for us, always great, but this was the first time the pub has made an effort for NYE. Long gig, 9pm to 1am, we're talking one of Bluewine's gigs here 😉. One 15 min break 10:40ish, then a short break for the countdown. Auld Lang Syne, followed by New Year's Day - U2, then the rest of the set. The place was probably half full at kick off, but was packed for the second set. Recently I've not been happy with my sound. It's been the typical case of the on stage sound being completely different to FOH, even though FOH had been sounding great. Last night it all came together. First set I used my Rob Allen Mouse, then for the more 'rock' second set one of my Shuker's. I was happy with what I could hear, and a bassist and drummer in the audience said it sounded great out front. Double bubble too. Happy days!
  8. I dunno. Another guitarist playing his guitar parts, doesn't make as much difference as say, another guitarist playing Richie Sambora's part in what's left of Bon Jovi. IMO.
  9. W.A.S.P. are touring this year. As Blackie Lawless is W.A.S.P., him being the only original member isn't really a problem.
  10. Most of my basses have ramps and light strings, so low actions for me. I can dig in if I want, so clank is there if I want it, but no problem with thump or attack either.
  11. It's always a great gig 😃
  12. that's the fella!
  13. add a slippery beer drenched floor with broken glass and an occasional fight happening while trying to load out, and that was a pub @Silvia Bluejay is just about to remind me name of...
  14. Do your research on the institute and read the QAA and TEF reports. These should be available on their website. Student satisfaction is important, but so are employment levels of graduates (if that's where you want to head).
  15. Although still working and only being 2 1/2 years old, my Xvive U2 has seen better days. Having a search on the Amazon brings up a plethora of cheap alternatives (rechargeable wireless systems) for under £50, with names I've never heard of such as: Getaria; Muslady; Ammoon; Lekato. Does anyone know anything about these 'brands'? There don't seem to be reviews anywhere other than Amazon. I would splash the cash and go for a Boss WL-20, but apparently they don't work so well near wifi.
  16. when I want my bass sound to be a dull thud, I'll use flats. But until then...
  17. Hah! The old soak, sat (in the way) at the end of the bar. It's where he sits, and he's sat there for the last 20-30 years and nothing is gong to move him!
  18. so nothing to do with the gig itself, just the load in. I'll start with the Prince of Wales, Wimbledon. No parking, and load in across 3 busy lanes of traffic on a blind corner. The road is never this quiet at post rush hour gig load in times!
  19. Had the ticket been a fiver more, and been for the whole event I would have considered it. But for some reason charging extra for the main stage performances gets my back up. All or nothing I guess.
  20. FWIW I went through it last night, after not not playing it for a while, and was actually getting stuck on a couple of bits. So at the moment not one I can rely on muscle memory for.
  21. the Josh Fossgreen transcription was useful to me too, but I find it easier to play all that section in one position. So, no moving around the neck, a four fret span, one finger per fret.
  22. BJ the prime minister; UK leaving Europe; Lozz not playing a precision, 'tis truly the end of days 😈
  23. I'm not sure what music I would normally play. My band does covers from the 50's to now, so most styles are covered. In the past I've played other styles. I don't think I have a 'normal'.
  24. sorry to drag this back OT, but I am quite interested to find out what it is too...
