  1. without wishing to disparage the talents of the maestro, he did have an eidetic memory, plus music was his full time job and he was conducting from age 19. Point being one would expect a high level of proficiency from someone so talented and experienced, but I know that Basschat is full of equally talented and experienced people in other fields, which maybe do not carry quite the same renown.
  2. i could just leave it there but apparently it was to do with the servers in the USA, which had been accessed by some wrong 'uns, so the FBI closed down the servers.
  3. The FBI once closed down Basschat (an earlier incarnation) because of terrorism. True story.
  4. That is awesome!
  5. Bassists who steal the show? Surely only one...
  6. i've still got a Powerslave t shirt from around 1984(?). It's now a bit faded - grey - but perfectly wearable. Might have a look later for what they are going for now.
  7. I was thinking fuzz and chorus, but I'll give that a go.
  8. Hasn't happened yet! 😝
  9. We're gonna have a bash at some Uptown Funk. We're a 3 piece instrument wise - plus vocalist - so it's gonna be quite challenging. The proviso of only playing it live, is if our version sounds good, and not just passable. Initial thoughts are to rock it up a tad. Gonna be a lot of faffing with the bass sound
  10. Genuine question, what would be in it? I'll start with: Sex on Fire Wonderwall Mustang Sally
  11. who was the mirrored fox?
  12. It was Mike who pointed me towards (the precursor of) Basschat, many, many, moons ago. I'm still playing the customised Tech 2x12 I bought from him
  13. Diary checked: 46
  14. I'd never got on with fretless, until I played @Frank Blank's Rob Allen Mouse. I've tried other short scale fretless, and no, can't get on with them. But mine 💖
  15. If you're tired of Hemel, you're tired of life!
  16. Elephant Gun - Billy Sheehan (in the DLR band)
  17. Local gigs, and lightweight gear and trolleys go a long way to helping the gigging experience be more enjoyable.
  18. will have to check last years diary...
  19. Sorry mate you've lost me there. What is this strange behaviour you refer to? 😕
  20. Fuzzy McFuzzyface Dirty McDirtface Drivey McDriveface Tubey McTubeface Screamy McScreamface you can have all of them!
  21. Must be getting on for 4-5 years since I got mine. Sounds great at any volume, loud enough for any gig, keeps the character of any bass I put through it. Quite a small footprint too - 1u. Yup lovin' it. 😎
  22. Imagine how good he could have been if he'd picked with 2 fingers. *runs and hides*
  23. some valid points are made here: https://60cyclehumcast.com/2016/04/01/5-reasons-we-dont-need-electric-bass-in-church/ 😉
  24. not a church bassist - although I have played in churches - the main thing is the type of church. The acoustics in an old stone high vaulted church were lovely for classical guitar, but suck for bass. A more modern low ceiling building should present less problems acoustically.
