  1. welcome to Jeff and your lovely Cort basses!
  2. it's a good job The Macc Lads never got endorsed...
  3. ha! the filter follows legal precedent. As Johnny Rotten was quoted leaving the courtroom “Great! Bollocks is legal. Bollocks! Bollocks! Bollocks!”
  4. not necessarily so. If you find the word 'bollocks' (b0ll0cks in case the filter gets triggered!) offensive, I can tell you that you are wrong, because the verdict of Glitterbest/Virgin vs The Crown 1977 ruled it not to be.
  5. one for the tenuous claim to fame thread, but I was once in a band, with a vocalist whose father was friends with Sly.
  6. The Story of Funk, on the iPlayer. Well worth a watch even if you're not a funkster. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04t6nm5/the-story-of-funk-one-nation-under-a-groove?suggid=b04t6nm5

    oops

i think it's something to do with the painting 'Arrow' by Robert Ryman. Here's a clearer view. Not sure what is has to do with amps or cabs though?
  10. no love for Purple Chilli's 2x12?
  11. that was my dream amp (combo) back in the day.
  12. The eloquent erudite sesquipedalian 😎
  13. A good music pub had a 'refurb', ending up with lots of shiny hard surfaces. Even without music the sound was piercing and unpleasant.
  14. depends what you mean by 'metal'. Back in the day metal was spray on trousers and long hair, then it became baggy shorts and no hair. Now I'm not sure what it is 🤔
  15. except incest and folk-dancing.
  16. ah, that would be better.
  17. Fair enough, they played in Mo's Bar in Springfield.
  18. that's fine for vocalists, but with a bass or guitar it means having to lean in a bit.
  19. time for an update? The latest from John: its been through several versions, I wanted to design something that kept the lower side of the neck free from any obstacles for fretting, looking at the double bass version the tuners would be somewhat in the way but i think i’ve one up with something that works, but still a similar design… If you can imagine the pick marker pen is the fretboard, similar to number two with a fallaway just after the nut on A, D and G, but the strings disappear through an elongated hole to the actual heastock below, normal mini bass tuners mounted in a double bass style on the ‘bass’ side of the board are about 15mm below the board. Not easy to describe… the extended board has the ebony clamps mounted on the upper side of the board and can be turned away. The E tuner is mounted again below the board level but on the treble side, it will clear the other tuners. It is quite complicated but will work and give you a near normal feeling neck up that end. Let me know what you reckon and if you can visualise the design of it ok, it will probably be the case that the design changes a bit as its made, I’m thinking i may have to move the tuners a bit further out from the neck so that the G tuner doesnt obstruct the hand… Its certainly different!
  20. doh! I did the searches before posting and didn't get anything.
  21. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/steel-panthers-satchel-and-tc-electronic-face-backlash-over-offensive-and-sexist-guitar-pedal-effect/ On the one hand it's Steel Panther, so what do you expect? On the other hand, just because it's Steel Panther, should they be able to get away with it? Satchel's reply to the complaining tweet did make me laugh though
  22. From recent gigging over the past couple of weeks: Shuker no 1 with D'Addario 30's - intonation fine, tuning stable. Shuker no 2 with Elite 45's - intonation fine, tuning needs an occasional tweak.
  23. Are there adapters, so they can be used on 'normal' microphone stands?
  24. Bluejay, that is exactly the first thing that came to my mind! Reyalpssabginkcufecin! (one for the Anthrax fans there)
  25. Tiny: Wayne. How you doin'? Wayne: Hey, Tiny, who's playing today? Tiny: Jolly Green Giants and the Shitty Beatles. Wayne: Shitty Beatles? Are they any good? Tiny: They suck. Wayne: Then it's not just a clever name.
