1. The original bassist in Saxon, played open as much as possible, so the other hand could be held aloft in rock salute! \m/ ?
2. Last time I saw them was at the MK Bowl about 10 years ago, co-headlining with Alice Cooper. Alice totally brought it, as he always does. Gillan was blatantly just going through the motions. Very disappointing.
3. I'm liking that. What's the top of the neck like - the headless bit?
4. Yup same as my Shuker's ? But are there any which have tuning pegs like the double bass ones?
5. http://doublebassworkshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ex3-1.jpg Do any bass guitars have a headstock similar to the double bass ones with the extended fretboard?
6. Never really 'got' the gunge thing. Horses for courses and all that...
7. Yup, but they are custom jobs that I designed. It was the only way
8.
And the blog from this year will be ready once we're back from holiday.
? Is the blog imminent? It's how I find out what gear and people I missed on the day
9. Another tad off OP, but back in the 80's I saw The Shadows. Only on a couple of tunes, did Hank let go, and boy could he fly. At the time I was very much in to my heavy metal, and the man can shred like a Demon \m/ So in the guitar world, Hank can. And did
10.
But the OP didn't say that - or anything that's equivalent to that IMHO. Let's have a bit of tolerance here!
I never said he did. My post was in reply to your statement "It's a funny old world where saying something sincerely nice about somebody gets you in bother." Which is why it was quoted. People are different, and what is tolerable to you, may not be tolerable to someone else if said to them.
11.
It's a funny old world where saying something sincerely nice about somebody gets you in bother.
"Nice tits", "fantastic arse". Sincere compliments, how could they possibly cause trouble?
12. This, is a stunning girl, instrument, playing and composition... https://youtube.com/watch?v=3IKqiM_QZ3o
13.
+1 22nd would be a nightmare for Happy Jack, Bluejay, MacDaddy and Paul the Drums ... we're gigging that night in Leighton Buzzard!
Wot he said
14. Love me a bit of double octave neck action!
15.
Mine works as well as my more expensive Snark.
Further to my previous comment, I need to add: on bass, not as good on guitar.
16.
£249.99 bump
Bump
17. Good time had, even though I didn't manage to get around to checking out Cetera's Future Impact, The Greeks Elf, Ped's Wingbass (need to hook it up to a GR unit next time!), and generally try all the sexy basses that were about. Next year!
18. Three gigs in 4 days, but one was on guitar – so we won’t talk about that Part 1. Friday. Pub in Wimbledon, covers. Essentially this is a work band that’s got out of hand. We formed to play a work do, but then the vocalist was offered a gig at a pub he’d played at before, we were all up for it, so that meant having to learn another hours’ worth of material. Fortunately we can rehearse for free at work. At the gig songs from 90’s student bands, tended to get the whole place going. My rig was Shuker – Xvive U2 wireless – Digitech BP350 – Tec Amp Puma 500 – Tech Sound Systems 2x12 (custom speakers). A lot of the time fx unit was in bypass mode, with the amp settings flat. Big sound, worked well as a 3 piece band (+ vocalist). I kicked on the fx when I needed some chorus or distortion. We went down well, the pub increased their usual bar take, and further gigs have been booked. Part 2. Monday. Metal gig north London, originals. You know the kind of thing, 3 bands on a Monday night, and you all play to each other Nah tbf there was a small, but select, audience. Backline was provided, but I just DI’d from the Digitech. The monitor on my side of the stage was the clankiest POS ever. During the first song I went in to the crowd and to the back, to make sure the FOH sound wasn’t as bad, fortunately it sounded ok. Couldn’t really do anything about the monitor sound, as it was a quick line check then on, so just had to live with it. We were on first, and I saw the second band. Didn’t see the third which I feel bad about, but I wanted to leave before the Arsenal crowd kicked out and filled the tubes.
19. Me too. My basses all have low actions. I don't think they sound worse than when I tweak the action higher.
20.
Is it not cool to use a headstock tuner in public? I had no idea. No wonder I've been shunned and ostracised...
Like that's the reason
