1.
A former band needed to borrow a guitarist from the other band we were playing with as ours had finally gone round the twist that afternoon and jumped in the canal.
A previous band of mine, once had to borrow a vocalist, as halfway through the set, the mother of ours took him to be committed to a mental health institution. We got the young chap who had been performing some of the hip hop previously, to freestyle over our (original) tunes. Surprisingly it worked quite well.
 2.
On the plus side my daughters love em! Especially the pretty blue one
Smurfette is one of your daughters?
 3. Didn't Flea's own brand Flea bass, have QC issues? Could be the way he likes them
 4.
3. The general attitude of the band members.
This.
In my latest project the singer / songwriter won't let me get anywhere near contributing towards rehearsal despite my best efforts... He also seems to feel the need to provide a buffet of sandwiches and snacks, alongside beer and a selection of soft drinks...
can I join?
 5. If you do, be prepared. Take spare strings and tools necessary for any bass adjustment. Years ago did a gig, took one bass, and a strap lock came out of the body. Did half the gig sitting down
 6. There's a band in that London called Violent Offender, no bass, the 2 guitarists have 7 string guitars.
 7. I use a DigiTech BP355 and cannot recommend it highly enough. Plenty of bass amp sims, or just use it as a multi fx pedal. It has drums and a looper, and even some amp sims for guitarists. All for under a ton. Full details here: http://digitech.com/en/products/bp355
 8.
I had to drop to Wunjo's today in their new basement home. I bought a 5 string about a year back it has really had very little use so i thought a part ex trip to Denmark St was in order. I need a 4 string back up.....a quick chat with Tom (or was it Tom?) and a great deal done on a part ex and i now have a Yamaha 424x in a nice metallic red. Always good doing business with Wunjo's
New basement home? Where have they moved to?
 9.
I found this. Dunno if you judge it as a poor video or not! https://youtu.be/pnlUKhEH0EU
By virtue of the fact its just slap, yes, very poor. Not really hearing the amp are we?
 10. Guitarist from previous band really rates his Engl gear. Can't find a decent vid either. If someone does please post the link.
 11.
Coming along very nicely. Would look amazing with a clearcoat finish with that woodgrain.
I was thinking something similar and almost changed my mind about the colour scheme. Almost.
 12. Latest from John Heres a picture or two of the neck and body. Bit of routing to do up the nut end but i lacquered the board yesterday so will send pics of the nice flame.
 13.
That's quite a nice/interesting spin on the Kubicki tuning model. This may sound a little weird/crazy. but go with me as this photo got me thinking - perhaps a little too much - and it's causing my brain to TILT a bit. There's clearly space on that neck to accommodate the extra fret and zero fret to allow the user to drop to a low D on the E string, so why not just take the frets over the whole fingerboard and tune down a full tone to DGCF? (I liked the theory behind Kubicki X-Factor, but always felt it would have been more interesting if the A string had had a double fret extension as well.) I do understand the concept of tuning down on a regular 34" scale bass, unaware of the scale on this bass I suppose it's feasible a DGCF extension may take the scale length to around 38-40".
That's what Chris_b was asking earlier. On Shuker no1 there is a bendwell under the other 3 strings, so no room there. For the new build, it's again medium scale (32") having the extra frets across all strings would compromise that. And I'm not sure I could get my head around playing a detuned bass in bands playing in regular tunings, although Anthony Jackson seems to have managed before he went on to 6ers.
 14.
Correct answer! He he! - Nice. Have you tried the NYXL's yet? Not long now then!!
Got some on Shuker no1. Bought them at the Herts bass bash, via some awesome customer service from Andy. Yep not long, just a pity my band is out of action until November, while our guitarist recivers from an operation on his finger.
 15. Vintage (brand) basses pack a punch well above their price. Shop around and there are some deals to be had. http://www.jhs.co.uk/brands/vintage/vintage-basses
 16. We were discussing strings and it will be wearing D'addario's. A rough completion date has been given of 4 to 6 weeks.
