1. good decision
 2.
So, been eyeing up for a while the possibility of getting some guitar gear and an ABY pedal to split my bass signal into 2 channels - one for bass, one for an octave up guitar sound from the bass into a guitar amp. However, to make this sound decent, I am well aware I will probably need many effects and bits and pieces. If anyone has any pointers on decent ABYs, octave up pedals, guitar amps, and effects to get a rhythm guitar-like sound from the bass, I would love to hear. I know Royal Blood do something similar, so if anyone knows how to get a royal blood like tone *(maybe a bit cleaner and not at the expense all of Mike Kerrs gear comes at)* then I'd also like to hear it.
The bass guitar is a transposing instrument, which means the way music for it is written, is not how it actually sounds. It actually sounds an octave lower. The point being, an octave up, isn't necessarily in guitar territory.
 3. possibly if i'm not gigging. Could tie it in with a visit to family in Southampton.

 6. There are some rather nice comments on the Shuker Faceache page... https://www.facebook.com/shukerbassguitars/posts/1118201381612600?comment_id=1118367328262672&notif_t=comment_mention&notif_id=1483747709223952

 9.
Off topic, Yeah, I need money. Doing my first DEP gig this Saturday night which means I have work Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Blue
Work? You're out enjoying yourself
 10.
Volvo estate. I've carried me and my gear, the wife and the drummer and full kit with only half the back seat down.
this.
 11.
5 piece band, 2 members own all the PA right down to the stands , mics and cables. For contingency purposes a kitty is suggested, this kitty will no doubt grow and grow, perhaps to purchase a bigger rig or van. One band member has said this is a good idea and if however someone leaves the band....they lose everything in the kitty. DISCUSS....GOOD OR BAD IDEA.
If you are all Musicians Union members, they will draw up a partnership contract for you, which covers such eventualities.
 12.
Awesome, I'd love a fondle with it if you're there when i am (I haven't decided which day I'm going yet) Absolutely bloody cracking bass
Thanks! Probably gonna be the Saturday for me, band practice is usually Sunday's.
 13.
Quite interested in this to take on my travels just to keep my hand in while on holidays. Would it easily fit into a suitcase?
It fits easily into a carry-on luggage case.
 14. Wouldn't mind a Future Impact. But unless they are having a sale
 15.
You're sure it wasn't Great White?
They were never Staight Edge.
 16.
I guess Slayer - Guilty of being right is on your playlist?
I do prefer it to the original Minor Threat version.
 17.
Well I have a personal strategy. Aging rocker seems to be a disparaging term so I have moved more towards jazz over the past years, got myself a DB. Jazz seems to be delightfully non ageist and predominantly non racist.
Not sure about that, take Peter King. If he was American (and black) he would be held in greater reknown than he currently is. IMO of course.
 18.
MD - You always have a real problem with me don't you?
not at all.
 19.
Your mum, apparently
20.
Not really because if you were up on your NASA facts, you would be aware of the audio development lab, that you have to admit, does have more than a passing relevance to sound engineering.
now who's fun at parties?
 21. our reheasal studio is still closed for the holidays (or maybe just not answering the phone), so looks like next reheasal not until 15th. It's difficult not telling the guys I have a new bass...
 22. I've got the new strings, I just have to find the time to change them.
 23.
I think my point went over your head. NASA, like everybody else make mistakes... like sound engineers... Again, of course it isn't. It was a comparison between doing a job and getting it right. I bet you're fun at parties.
Nah, comparing sound engineers to NASA can only lead to the afforementioned quip But you are free to think what you like, and I'm not gonna stop you betting.
 24.
NASA are professionals at the top of their game...
not always https://www.google.c...+staff+mistakes and excuse me for being obvious, but putting on a gig is not rocket science!
 25.
^ ... but theres too many numbskulls with no idea about the technicalities of such a show to judge her on that performance. It's clear that her performance is dogged with technical issues, not her ability to sing or not.
numbskull here! No idea about the technicalities, but an educated guess concerning the money and companies involved would suggest the people involved are professionals at the top of their game, performer included, who would have planned; rehearsed; dress rehearsed; and sorted out any problems prior to going live?
