1. Any recommendations for 9v power packs? They all seem to be made in China, and i dont really rate the lifespan of some, but which ones will actually last? Ta.
2. Can't comment on construction benefits, but my gigging basses have to have 24 frets due a bass solo I do in one of our songs.
3. Finger style is better, because that way you do not lose any picks
4. VHS? I remember we used to mix down on to Betamax.
5. Yup it's marked Jackson
6. it's really comfortable to play too, even though I prefer medium scale. The only problem is the j pup is now suffering in comparison to the SD. At some point in the future I may upgrade.
7.
You can't lay down a basic funky groove without tapping and slapping, go home and stay there. Blue
Larry Graham and Bootsy Collins may have something to say about that.
8.
That style of music got filed under cheese thirty years ago, of course there's nobody doing it now!
but the question is, why wasn't anyone else doing it then? In the age of shred, and guitar heroes popping up each week, why were no other bass players playing like Billy?
9. Well it was actually a couple of weeks ago, but here is my 80’s MIJ Charvel 2B. 80’s as in 30 years old, rather than just being in an 80’s style. Having found myself in the inexplicable position of only owning one bass, I wanted an inexpensive bass for mainly home use, but something quality enough to gig with. As I’m learning songs in different tunings, I wanted a bass with headstock tuners (as opposed to the bridge tuners on my headless bass) for ease of use, passive, and with a comfortable neck. The Charvel ticked all the boxes, plus it is a bit of a throwback to my misspent youth, pointy headstock and all. Condition is good with a tad of mojo on the bottom of the body, I’m guessing from being plonked down on the floor and not on a stand over the years. Unusually (but happily) for old pointy headstocks, there are no dents or chips on the point. It has been upgraded with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder, so sounds immense. Weight comes in at a tad over 9 lbs. I’ve had a Charvel guitar before, but I was still surprised to see that the basses are also made with the 2 piece neck. I’ve tried to show the join in the pic. So, happy happy joy joy :-)
10.
Excellent
11.
Because the style is rooted very much in the 80's, I'd say. Even slap has moved on massively from the big exponents of that era..ie, King and Louis Johnson, to name a few. Maybe there isn't a band vehicle for it...and anyone going down that route is decidedly 'niche'
but what about in the 80's? Billy kind of stood alone, which bearing in mind what was happening with guitarists I find a bit surprising.
12. ok, so maybe not clones, but back in the 80's Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen influenced a whole generation of players in successful bands, but despite being in 2 mightily successful rock bands and on the cover of magazines, why was there not a slew of players influenced by Billy?
13. how can any Fender be bad, now that The Edge and Bono are on the Fender board of directors?
14. here you go, £59.00 all in.
