1.
We have been here before. I can't remember the name of the bass player, but it was an American guy, played for someone like Third Eye Blind, had Fender custom shop instruments with left-handed/reverse headstocks, citing the longer string length (albeit on the E-string) resulted in better/more agreeable tension across the set. I think the consensus was the guy was speaking out of his bottom.
I wonder how this would affect a Hipshot extender, as there would be more of the string before the nut, to detune?
2. M25 jnc12 could work for me, A303 may work for Oldslapper.
3.
Been looking at getting another of these as a spare for my spare! Cracking pedal for the money, even if you just use it as a DI. Good deal here including p&p too. I clicked 'buy with one click' and got charged for postage. Have cancelled and reordered.

6.
Myself and Pineweasel (the lefties from last year) will try to be there, if we can.
that's Bluejay happy then!
7. I know one of Wilco Johnson's offspring. Back in the day they made a comment along the lines of 'my Dads' bass player Norman'. It was years later I realized it was the legend that is Norman Watt-Roy, being referred to.
8.

and again!
9. No examples, it's a bit of a leap of faith, but I trust Jon. The decals for the finish are coming from a custom car parts firm. I want a matt finish (with a black volume knob on a black strip) . The ramp will be a bit simpler, probably smaller, with the thumb rest part a tad nearer to the strings.
10.
That's an interesting approach to a drop D tuning. I've never seen it before. Does it cause any issues with not being able to play an open E or I guess you just learn to work around it.
I got the idea from the Kubicki's I used to have, but it's been a feature on some double basses from back in history (although they generally were extended to C). No probs for me having to fret the low E. I find it easier this way as the E is still in tune for the rest of the neck, unlike the Hipshot types, where you have to play 2 frets up.
11. Yup, but different
12. ok, I'll do a rational and a bit of history later, but for now here's the spec: 32” scale 24 fret drop d on E string. 38mm nut width 19mm string spacing 19mm neck depth at 1st fret? 21mm at 12th D profile maple / black veneer laminated bolt on neck (5 piece laminate) two way truss rod carbon fibre reinforcement flamed maple fretboard fluorescent side dots face LED's, between E and A, - yellow. zero fret composite nuts 6x recessed neck bolts Shuker ‘series 2” body shape, slightly flared out to dimensions supplied very light swamp ash, body contours, reduced heel for access simpler ramp (than Shuker no. 1) monkey grip polyester basecoat zebra stripe colour coats (B&W), decals lacquered over satin topcoat Passive pickup, custom wound P type. LED switch on push/pull volume single volume control side jack, placed for stand use and able to balance on strap buttons stood up black hardware black headless bridge, individual ABM units
13. Harley Benton seem to have managed to avoid the vitriol that is aimed at Behringer.
14. Watching this with interest. Mike builds lovely basses and is a top bloke to have a natter with.

20. I would rather not post as I only have a gig bag for this. 1985 Hamer Blitz bass. Dimarzio pups and a hipshot D extender. Zebra finish is aftermarket. Sounds incredible but has the knocks to prove it's a 30 year old bass. There are cracks in the finish which are only noticeable close up. I've tried to show this in one of the pics. Refin is aftermarket. Awesome bass, but not for the shy!
21. "As you may know, Prince has died. So tonight we're gonna party like it's 1999!" maybe not, eh?
