  1. Grades 1 to 8, in music theory or performance. Grade 5 was O level equivalent, and Grade 8 was A level equivalent. Some universities accepted Grade 8 in place of an A level for their music courses.

  3. My backup bass. Good enough to gig, and I have.
  4. Why? It's still a great song, and definitely one of the better Christmas songs. And as Glitter sold the rights in 1997 he doesn't earn any money from it.
  5. Good to see new talent coming through.
  6. Monday with the alt Country band. Very productive and enjoyable. Went for a booze after. Great guys, was just like hanging out with mates.
  7. Half day at work tomorrow and off until 2nd January! None of it comes out of my annual leave 😁
  8. Depends on the audience. Be careful you are not playing to people who when the band are on, clear the dancefloor and are just waiting for the DJ to play the latest songs from the Hit Parade.
  9. He calls it 'the pension fund' πŸ˜†
  10. Any music released after the 90's sounds like something that was released before.
  11. One would hope a thrown plastic glass at a gig did not contain liquid other than alcohol...
  12. You may have some access issues...
  13. Do the UK Christmas standards feature in setlists your side of the pond?
  14. I've only bought 2 bass related things this year. TGI Ultimate Gig Bag, which was bought for Shuker no 3, and is the best purchase because there is plenty of space at the top for my tuners which face down, rather than across. The other purchase is also best 😁 A Pocket Pod, which is an amazing practice tool. Utterly convenient, portable and easy to use.
  15. Possibly mine? Which I bought having played @Frank Blank's at a previous bash
  16. This chap 😁 Nice bloke, we had a chat, and he was up for me posting his pic on Basschat.
  17. I wouldn't want that in my search history...
  18. 90% of being in a band is turning up when you say you will.
  19. Not last night, the night before. First rehearsal with the Americana band in a rehearsal studio, and first time meeting the drummer. He's been on at the other guys about needing a bassist so he was happy I was there πŸ˜† The guitarist was using an early 70s Les Paul, he's a finger picker and sounded sublime. I used my Mouse which is fretless, and although it sounded great I felt my playing initially wasn't quite up to scratch for some reason. Also I came to the realisation that I'm far too reliant on the Mouse's fret markers. More practicing at home by ear needed. Anyhow, by the end we were sounding pretty good. Looks like this one is going to be a lot of fun 😎
  20. Just out of interest, and I know this is not what it's made for, but what is the loudest useable volume? If you put it through a 4x10 could it keep up with 2 guitars and drums?
