1.
An And what "test" will we have Lozz presiding over this time? Will it involve cheap and (actually not at all) nasty Maplins speaker cabs?
If we can get a sound level meter, I reckon we ought to go for it, and see what amps are the loudest.
  2.
Can anyone recommend a volume/wah pedal? Something that's not enormous!
Do you want the actual foot pedal bit, or a boost auto wah pedal? Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Bass wah , or Electro Harmonix Nano Bass Balls Twin Envelope Filter.
  3. Well to the chagrin of the detractors, I used my fully CE marked and EN certified, £2.19 earplugs at rehearsal yesterday (metal band, 2 gtr, drums, vox, bass). They were comfortable, the attenuation was perfectly acceptable (although to be brutally honest a slight reduction across the board in the top frequencies, but I can happily live with that ). The only drawback was I had to take them out during normal conversation level conversations. Edited as autocorrect changed drums, to droms. What the hell is a drom?
  4. Absolutely, but assuming something does not work because it is inexpensive is erroneous.
  5. Or go very cheap with plugs that work http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161224332150?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=460275025651&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Yup I've got some
  6.
If anything the industry is slightly more honest about manufactured bands & writing pop music to formulas than it was back in the days of the Monkees.
That's rather unfair to The Monkees. It was only ever meant to be a TV show. However its success fuelled by public demand led to the actors becoming the band. Micky Dolenz said something along the lines of 'an equivalent would be Leonard Nimoy actually becoming a Vulcan'. The original Tin Pan Alley had a corporate stranglehold over popular music from the late 19th century. So as others have posted, it's nothing new.
  7. This seems to be rather in vogue of late.
  8.
And I thought bass players were financially challenged.
Just because they are for sale doesn't mean they are being sold.
  9. 2 bass amp models (along with all the guitar ones) Peavey and Trace Elliot. Each has 3 channels, which have different characteristics. Bump.

  12. I've only had my Tecamp Puma 500 a month and a bit. Glad I got it when I did.
  13.
What speaker configuration?
4 x 10.
  14.
Why don't you use Imgur or something?
I've got a photo bucket, but haven't logged on in years. The pics are probably all still linked to Bassworld.
  15.
I tried a 350, and used it at a rehearsal with a metal band (2 git, drum, vox). We rehearse at ridiculous near gig levels and it was plenty loud enough.
BTW this was through an 8 ohm cab.
  16. I've got a Zebra print Blitz I'd put a pic but I'm at my allowance.
  17. ok, amp details here: http://peavey.com/pr...em/1192/118347/ pedal details here: http://peavey.com/pr...ra%26trade%3BII Both are in perfect working order - I will be using them tonight with the Junkyard Dogs (Chiswick Social Club 9pm kick off if anyone is around ). The amp is not that old and still under warranty, but there are scratches from being gigged and carted in and out of vans. I have tried to show this in the pics. If I was keeping this I would just stick some black gaffer on. Also the pedal is in used condition, and also has a couple of chips on the corners at the bottom. This sounds worse than it is, and I have again tried to show this in the pics. and similar on the opposite corner. Works fine though and is still stable.
  18.
I don't agree, given the Tone Hammer's versatile Gain and Drive controls you can easily get that Ampeg-like harmonic grit playing a P Bass with rounds and a pick, and at high volume too. It's a great amp for practically any genre. IMHO.
I tried a 350, and used it at a rehearsal with a metal band (2 git, drum, vox). We rehearse at ridiculous near gig levels and it was plenty loud enough. TBH I probably needed to spend a bit longer with it to get to grips with the drive and gain controls, but I got some good sounds from it. Ended up buying a tecamp puma because it's simpler and smaller.
  19. Thanks for the replies
  20. Newby question, but can audio interfaces be used to just listen to music, or are they only for recording? I've got a line 6 tone port, but I've not plugged it in yet.
  21. Hi all What is the best way to hookup my (powered) speakers to my laptop? My old PC had speaker outs, but my laptop has 2 headphone outs. Are these still the way to go? Ta.
  22.
Wow, my dad was not in the Applejacks, either! What are the odds??
About as remote as someone reading the following sentence of the quote?
  23.
Alas I shall have to remove myself from the list. I've been invited to a wedding, which is going to involve pretty much the whole weekend. It's the wedding of a dear friend and former housemate of mine, so should turn into a bit of a reunion of those of us who were all hip and trendy in Slough in the 80's (yes, that is possible!) It was like 'Friends' personified, lol. Anyway, back to the Bass Bash, I'll have to duck out on this occasion but hope to see some of you at LBGS. 24.
Here we go with basswoman Megan Davies ... wouldn't embed so here's the link ... https://www.youtube....h?v=_yRxDKAYwlM
My Dad was not in the Applejacks. This is not as entirely random a comment as it may first appear, as I'm sure many other BC'ers Dad's were also not in the Applejacks. But my Dad was with them once when fans were asking for autographs, and they were asking him too. He asked a band member what to do and was told 'sign them!'. So he did. So later that evening there must have been quite a few Applejacks fans looking at my Dad's autograph, wondering 'who the hell is that?'.
