1. Do they exist? Maybe some kind of harness arrangement? Has anyone done it so you can sling your hardcase over your back?
2.
Save money and kill two birds with one stone by eating a KFC, then without wiping your hands, play the bass. Feels about the same and is just as attractive, IME. Horrible stuff.
If it was good enough for Jaco...
3. I thought about starting this thread myself when I heard yesterday, but I wasn't sure enough BC'ers would know who he was. I first saw Twisted Sister on The Tube in 1982. Then on Top of the Pops with 'I am I'm me', and that was it, hooked for life. My top 3 gigs are all Twisted Sister gigs. 55 years old, that's no age these days. Cause of death doesn't seem to have been reported yet.
4. For example if the drummer has to pay extra for a kit, should the extra cost be split with everyone else ?
5. Not in the reformed PiL as he wanted more money than everyone else, according to Lydon' s latest biography.
6. I had great customer service from Laurence, who also beat the online price for my amp without my having to ask.
7. At least they are not discriminating against people over 30.
8. If I remember my Beatles history correctly, Macca played guitar only taking up bass when Sri Sutcliffe left. He could already play piano, so would have had an awareness of what the left hand does, which when transferring instruments to bass resulted in his wonderfully melodic bass lines.
9. I like it, but then again I still think keytars are cool
10. String spacing can make a big difference for how a 5er feels for you, so as others have said play as many as possible.
11.
Consensus seems in favour of the white one. The sunburst looked nice in the 'unpacking' video but that seems a finish that can be make or break. Has anyone seem a sunburst one?
Yup the white for me too. Are there any passive options or are they all active?
12.
In fairness, the thread is this long due to people's silly reaction to the OP happening to put the word "girl" in the thread title.
We're in agreement then
13.
mate, my intentions are honest. i posted a girl who plays bass and does it very well.… that is bottom line, if you want read into it thats your bag, not mine.. this thread has got longer bud because of sexism.
Hey I'm not questioning your intentions. Just offered a suggestion which could have stopped this thread getting derailed.
14.
why would i want to do that.. she's a girl who plays bass.
Because you said you posted based on playing ability with no agenda behind it, therefore gender is irrelevant. If you had this thread would be a lot shorter
15.
good god why is it when you post a woman playing bass there must an agenda behind it. i posted it purely on her playing. I'm sure there are many better bassists out there.. i just happen to like her playing.
In which case maybe change the thread title to 'check this bassist out' .
16. http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_bdi2000.htm This looks interesting, good reviews and cheap.
17. I heard if you have a reverse headstock it's better for the B, as more of the string is unwound. Not sure of the truth of it though.
18. No cover, but I've still got the plastic bag my combo was wrapped in inside its box. I'm just careful with it.
19.
Mac, you need to find out what the freq band is on your amp's mid control. What's the amp?
Peavey Vypyr VIP 3
20. It's on an amp. When I had a graphic EQ I always had a bump at the low Mids, I found the bass cuts through without losing the bottom end or sounding muffled.
21.
On a preamp, or an amp? Is this question one that I should assume you are being positive?
Yup otherwise I would have been asking how to cut the low mids.
22.
MacDaddy has many long-standing problems involving Sticky Toffee pudding, but he doesn't like to talk about them in public.
We agreed, what happens on tour...
23. Yup. With my old MM Sub. Just slightly widened the nut for the B string, minor setup adjustment and good to go.
24. I'm always looking for that one bit of kit which will make everything right. Currently it's all about having as less as possible, hence my Peavey Vypyr VIP 3, which is designed for bass and guitars. If you are skint, ask 'do I need it, and can I afford it'? If money is not an option ask 'is it worth it and will I use it'? Courtesy of Money saving expert.com
