1. was with him all the way to "change your strings more than once every three years".
2.
Here's a thought...How does the charity benefit from the band playing for free? Is the promoter going to give your usual fee to the intended charity instead? Doubtful isn't it. Most pub gigs pay out of the bar takings (or occasionally from a brewery subsidy), so they could still do this without taking money from the charity collection. If the band members then choose to give their money, or just a portion of it, to the charity that is there choice. The band get paid, the charity receive extra donations and the landlord has only payed out his regular budget and has probably taken more than usual over the bar because of the charity draw. Everyone wins.
This
3.
If only that were possible - there is no Epiphone equivalent and never has been. They did a PJ wearing bolt on necked "Ripper" a few years back which is as close as it came. Same body shape and construction being the only similarities with a G-3.
Do you mean this? http://epiphonewiki.com/index.php/Ripper_Bass
4. When I was younger I hated gigging, too many classical recitals. Loved it from my first proper 'pub gig', and miss it now if I'm not gigging.
5. Funny that what with all the advances in recording technology, you can get software to model recordings made on tape machines.
6. Giving up smoking, easy! I've done it hundreds of times! Seriously, good luck you know it makes sense.
7. Are you gigging? It's always worth having a backup bass, but if the Fender has lost its magic sell it and get the Epiphone equivalent of your Gibson?
8. Another one here for Obbm. Which reminds me to ask him about a patch lead next time I see him.
9. Slade The Sweet Mark Bolan Mud David Bowie For starters. Possibly avoid Gary Glitter unless you're feeling brave!
10. Bearing in mind he was 'the hardest working man in show business' for decades, I've never heard of anyone who has actually seen him live.
11. I used to have a Phil Jones M500, IMO it out Ampeged Ampegs (which I had owned previously). Stadium filling valve (like) rock tone, from MOSFETS.
12.
Poison 80s to early 90s would have been my gig
Me too
13. Anyone going and/or knows of any deals for free tickets? I think I remember MU members getting in for free before, but not this year. Best I've found so far is £7.50 off each ticket.
14. Paul the drummer confirmed so i will indeed be bringing Paul the drummer and his drum kit.

16. I play guitar in the band I'm in (& have been for the last 3 years), but I'm still a bassist who plays guitar.

18.
I seem to remember reading that a few of the guys that auditioned were Doug Wimbish, Charley Drayton, Kenny Aaronson and Joey Spampinato. Wimbish already toured with Jagger and Spampinato had worked with Richards.
There's a YouTube vid in which Wimbish says he was offered the gig but had to turn it down as he was committed to Living Colour.
19.
Can't wait to go again and ultimately to get into a band would be well cool
My band formed from them playing together at a jam night.
20.
I remember the Bandits, thought they were ace, I'm sure this is the same good stuff.
I think the Bandit has one more knob on the distortion channel. Btw I weighed this again and it is 35lbs.
