1. Is it possible to boost my low mids, with a 3 band EQ - bass; mid; treble?
  2. I thought Norm was endorsing Trace Elliot when they came back?
  3.
Maybe you are an insufferable ballache ;-)
Lol FWIW I love rehearsals, i hang out with my mates, we play music, then go to the pub. What's not to like?
  4. You're gonna have to bring it to a Bass bash so I can have a go

    Cheers, useful info!
  7.
So after 2 pages we've all learned that some people, to varying degrees, like the Kaiser Chiefs and some don't. And the same for Oasis. I can sleep soundly tonight in that knowledge.
God bless the internet!
  8.
My own particular frustration is that some particular visual feature of a bass is referred to in a review and there is no pic of it.
+1
  9.
Just getting a gripe off my chest......I have been playing bass for many a year now and like to think that my ear is good enough that I can get a close enough approximation of a bassline by listening to it. But I find that now whenever I need to learn a bass part I reach straight for the dodgy youtube clips of people playing the lines. Even if their wrong it gives me the general impression of the line and saves me doing the hard work of working it out by ear. It is way too easy now and I can totally understand why people use them or tabs to learn bass parts, but this has to come at a price when you are learning to play. I have, what limited musical ear I have, because I had no choice but to sit down and pick out a bassline bit by bit which could take weeks. It's a shame that no-one really needs to do this anymore and it can only limit future generations musical ears which is so vital, not just for learning songs but for improvisation and last minute dep work. It's a shame.......that's all. Thanks for listening
was thinking about this the other day. Before the internet we had to record an LP or single to cassette, then spend time forwarding and rewinding, while trying to work out tuning issues because the tape player was running fast or slow. Nowadays just find some bloke on Youtube to walk you through it.
  10.
Dance music genres are just as fashion image and scene conscious as rock. Just because you're not tuned into the nuances doesn't mean it's not so.
Yup, having never been a fan of dance music and it's derivatives I wouldn't know.

http://www.edenamps....edals/WTDI.html I was looking at the PJB Bass buddy, and happened across the Eden WTDI. A third of the price, and it does all the Bass buddy does except power a speaker and have an auxiliary volume. It also has a bit of distortion, which the PJB doesn't. Does anyone have or use one?
  12. With Jackson and BC Rich manufacturing outside the USA, and Ibanez and ESP manufacturing outside of Japan, what's there to be snobby about? It's difficult to have brand snobbery when the brand has been devalued.
  13.
Er yeah... the EDM scene is massive. You been to a club lately?
Yes, but at my club periodicals of the day are present, ladies are not permitted and there is a no talking rule.
  14.
Dubstep and before that was nu rave. There is a lot of good dance music coming through but it's not on Radio 1. I thought rock was fairly popular again as of last year.
But were they part of a scene involving music and fashion?
  15. Thing is with rock, you can tell by fashion if a rock fan is in to Gunge as opposed to say Thrash. Easy genre of rock had its own fashion and scene; punk; glam; goth; etc. Clothing associated with the rap scenes, or dance scenes seems to be generic.
  16.
Well I could hear the difference, Drum and Bass was a breath of fresh air but it never got a chance to develop...that was the point I was trying to make.
And the fashion?
  17.
Hardly dare to suggest this but Hipster?
What's Hipster music?
  18.
There are lots of mini music trends happening all the time. I used to enjoy listening to Drum and Bass, House, Progressive House etc. on late night shows. The problem is great new music is quickly sampled, copied and then manufactured into popular music at such speed that it never really gets a chance to become a subculture.
To me that's all just 'dance' music - but I was never a fan. Did fans of each genre have a style of dress that was different to the rest?
  19.
Are you talking only about sub cultures that have gone mainstream? Grime not count?
No just in general. Grime has been around for what, 10 years? But essentially it's just rap.
  20. It's an unusual situation for a magazine. It has a 'captive' audience who want a decent bass guitar magazine, so it should be a success. Problem is, it doesn't look like the audience are getting what they want.
  21. You know the thing, music with a fashion and a scene. Can't think what the last one was, probably Gunge (Grunge) but that was 20 years ago. The Chav thing didn't have an associated music, but it's more than 7 years ago since that started. What's new?
  22.
Auditioning through an agency. Or agencies, rather!
Goes without saying to check out any contract before you sign it. Are you in the MU?
  23. How can Fender possibly be in trouble now that Bono and The Edge are on the board?
  24. In the Days of punk, it was here's 3 chords, now form a band.
  25. Hopefully he'll do a Wilko.
