2.
... nor Charlie Watts.
What?
 3.
Decided to go back to the simplicity of the wonderful Tec Amp PUMA. Ordered the 900 watt (4 ohms). Ten minutes later the dawning. My two Berg AE112 cabs are only 300 watt apiece, so obviously 6oo watts in total . Any ideas that don't end in buying more bloody gear? Yours, embarrassed muppet of Wigan.
I'm wanting to hear more about the Puma! I had a play with one at the Herts bash, and thought it was awesome.
 4.
It's a bit simpler to use if you opt to base your calculations on an existing set of D'Addario strings. When you say the bass has an extra two frets for drop tuning do you mean to say that the E string is a different scale length to the rest of the bass?
Hi the E is the same, open D is different. Like the Kubicki ex- Factors. I'll give it another go.
 5.
We have a great tool on our website for working out string tensions at various gauges, scale lengths and tunings www.stringtensionpro.com. This tool can be very useful in comparing the tension and "feel" of different sets on different instrument setups.
Hi, I tried using that, but got stumped with the gauge/tension options. My bass is 32inch but with an extra 2 frets on the E string for drop D tuning.
 6. Thanks for the replies!
 7.
Had to do a search for this - Here's one I like and want! http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Davis Custom Guitars, courtesy of TomRichard on here!
They look interesting. I wonder if there are any in the UK yet?
 8.
Zon?
Which one? I've just been on their website but could not find one.
 9. Will using lighter strings on a short scale bass give more bottom end, due to the increased tension? Ta.
 10. Apart from my own custom Shuker, and Kubicki's (who I got the idea from) are there any other bases which have an extra 2 frets above the nut, for an open D?
 11.
Whats the tone controls?thanx
Pup volume for each, bass, mid, treble, and active/passive switch.
 12.
Great! But is MacD's Icini a Status?
No, it's a Shuker.
 13. I know ultimately it's about using my ears, but i need a ballpark to work from (so to speak) So what do I need for a good tapping sound on bass (Billy Sheehan, Van Halen type tapping) ? Boosts in the mids or trebles? Compression? If so what settings? Thanks.

Apologies for the brevity of the PM, there were a few to get through Hopefully you can use the photos for something at least, perhaps we'll be a bit better setup with gear/lighting next year, it was a bit improvised this year. However I think some really good shots came out of it. Obviously post them if you want to, so others can see Cheers Si P.s. I do believe Jacks Mike Lull was the most photographed bass of the day
Here are mine!

 16.
The poster.......
Not funny as depressingly accurate.
 17. "One letter is only the start of it..." Ok, maybe not.
 18.
Never! It keeps things cool as well as hot, you know
How does it know?
 19.
Really? I used to gig both an M500 and a V4B at around the same time in my 'career' (I use the term loosely), and I certainly wouldn't say the former did or could Ampeg the latter. In fact to my mind it's chalk and cheese, both are high quality, but neither can do what the other excels at.
Yup. M500 but through a 4x10. Rock bass heaven
 20. My thanks too to all involved. Glad I attended, had a great day
 21.
Any amp as long as it is all tube, don't believe what some people say about SS gear getting 'close enough'. Close enough if you're half deaf and don;t care about your sound yes, but not close enough for me. I have a B-15 and a V4-B. Neither are rated above 100w, both can humble most guitarists and most drummers, and both sound superb. The VT Bass might sound a bit like some of the Ampegs, but it doesn't feel like any of them. Exactly. I think
Voice of decent here. My old PJB M500 out-Ampeged Ampegs. Utter valve tone, not valve 'like' from MOSFETS. Not light though
 22. Unless you bite them, nail clippers.
 23. My bass playing is very much fx driven. I have finally settled on the Digitech BP355 and I cannot recommend it enough. The problem is creating awesome fx patches that work within a band context. At the moment we are a 3 piece, but my studio tones will be completely different to my live tones, due to the guitarist being able to over dub and multi track.
 24. £48.00! How is this possible? http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbt16sb.htm
