Just wondering if using speaker cables rather than guitar leads would make a difference in connection my fx unit to the amp? It's a Johnson J Station to either an amp head or a power amp. Ta.
60? SIXTY!!! This one will be as big as the last two put together.
size isn't important. Or so I've been told, which has sometimes been a great comfort. -
Ernie Ball UK and Strings n Things
MacDaddy replied to Stephen Houghton's topic in General Discussion
I ordered a passive black Sub when they first came out (through a mates shop ) direct from Ernie Ball. 4-6 week later I received a maroon active Sub. This was sent back, and 4-6 weeks later I received a black active Sub. This was sent back. Another 4-6 weeks later I finally received my passive black Sub. No apology from Ernie Ball for any of the delays and cock-ups. -
a bass is worth whatever someone will pay for it.
The answer is....depends.
this. The average punter in the Dog and Duck isn't even going to notice let alone care. There could be an issue if you hear a noticeable difference in how you sound with your band, but it would have to be a pretty extreme difference for the rest of the band to notice what the bassist is up to

Who gone through simple to complex then back to simple bass?

will there be a set-up masterclass? I suggested it last year, then missed it when it happened. Doh! -
If I could I would but, unfortunately I work a lot of weekends and since I have been on Basschat I haven't been able to attend any of them
Bu99er. Well my experience is yes. I've had all kinds of heavy and currently have a Tech Soundsystems 2x12 which is an easy one hand lift. It can cope with ridiculous levels of volume and sounds good to me. I favour a bass sound that has plenty of bottom end without sounding muffled with boosted low mids to cut through. I gig with Happy Jack who has various Barefaced cabs, he never has lack of volume trouble, and quite often sounds rather nice despite his preference for flats
Oo-er! Better lay off the sprouts, then... I may actually be able to make this one. Will I bring The Bass Doc 'Discreet' Custom P?
has to be the P! -
come to a bass bash and try out as many cabs as possible, and see for yourself
-
the only downside to my band is that I'm not playing bass in it.
-
My Hamer Chaparral has a licensed Floyd. No tuning worries at all and I used to do silly Steve Vai and Vinny Vincent things What I would say with floaters, is to be careful where you rest your palm when you play, as the slightest pressure on the bridge will make it move slightly and pull it out of tune.
-
i got a Johnson J Station in my quest for downsizing while still being able to play/gig guitar and bass. My plans change all the time but if I get a small power amp and it sounds good with my Tech cab, then I could get rid of the guitar combo.

Sold Japhet a combo. Smooth transaction, quick payment. Could probably have chatted for an hour or two more when he came to collect. Top bloke.

People have mentioned the DIY ethos, but the Pistols always signed to a major label and wore expensive clothes from Westwood and McLaren's shop. What was unprecedented (and still is) is that an un-signed band did a tour, created a 'scene' and and at each gig influenced people to go out and start their own bands, many of which had their own success.
Like I said, it's probably completely trashed and unplayable!
if it's not good enough for Lemmy, it's not good enough for me.
This is a muddle... none of the stuff seems to do what you want it to do... so you are fixing a fix. Sell it all and start again. Ampeg Portaflex.. PR amp and Portaflex cab..!!
+1 for the porta flex. Lightwight but still with that Ampeg tone.
