1. What combination of effects do I need to use, to create a clean keyboard type bass sound. Most bass synth sounds seem to be Moogy (& boingy) or Mutrony (& squelchy)
2. My serious suggestion would be a lightweight cab that can be used for bass and guitar. So a Barefaced version of the cab part of my Peavey Vypyr VIP 3. My suggestion that I would seriously like to see (and hear) would be a Barefaced version of the Bad Cab. Make that lightweight Alex! http://www.tech-soundsystems.de/TecAmp/index.php?id=111
3.
Just for the record: Using a plectrum isn't "cheating"...

4. Can I come? Loved It Bites, and Frank's solo stuff, he is offensively talented.
5.
Basses without a rounded forearm cut. I tried with my Ric, but it wasn't happening. It was a real shame because the neck was perfect.
Agree with this. Gigs soon become mighty uncomfortable with the bass body digging into your forearm. It's why I had to get rid of my MM Sub, which was otherwise a great bass.
6.
Seen a few bands do AC/DC stuff over the years and funnily enough it's the rhythm section that often comes up short, esp. Malcolm Young's rhythm parts/feel. Bit like seeing bands doing Stones covers - few tend to nail Keef's parts/feel.
Because people think AC/DC music is easy to play, they tend to play the easy or obvious option. Whereas Malcolm often uses different chord voicings and inversions.
7. Is it weird that although I don't have a clue what Bill and Alex are on about, I still enjoy reading it?
8. Yes I bought my Gibson melody maker flying V from them for an insanely low price. It arrived quickly and was well packaged. I would have no problem buying from them again. But do try the price match thing
9. bootsy666 can you post a pic with your bass against the cab, to provide some perspective? Ta.
10.
Could we get back "on-topic" please?
Probably not.
11. http://www.snap-dragon-guitars.co.uk/e--guitars-and-basses-19-w.asp Not acoustic but ticks all the other boxes.
12.
"Dixie" Dave Collins from Weedeater is known for puking during gigs without missing a note. https://www.youtube....h?v=lYPyVDb75xc
Wasn't that Johnny Rotten's trick?
13.
weight = 33lbs bump
And don't forget that's for a 2 x 12. Bump
14. seriously considering cheating and using a pic. here's Dave Jr showing how it's done nothing too technically challenging it's just relentless! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oah2HSQlps
15. i cannot believe that happened, seroius shock here. so serious, i have to edit my inability to spell serious!
16.
That's brilliant - could make some money on the replica shirt sales!
Didn't Wet Wet Wet once sponsor a local team? I know whose name I'd rather have on my footy top :-)
17.
So what is the approximate weight of it now? Cheers
Weight is a nats over 8 1/2 lbs.
18.
We're not exactly the youngest band. I'd probably have been a million times keener if I was ten or fifteen years younger minus the wife, kids and job! I'm 33 and the band range from 28 to 44.
Show the rest of the band this thread.
19. Seems simple enough with a pick, but I'm a finger player so currently finding it a bit challenging.
20.
Where are you and can you post? Thanks.
I now have a padded Warwick gigbag and a big box, so will be able to post securely for £40.00.
21. Another possible option, is to use a Hipshot X tender, like wot I do. It means I play a 4 string, but there are only 3 notes I don't have that a 5er does.
22. 2 things. Seeing Nikki Sixx running around, posing and throwing shapes. Being able to better transfer classical guitar technique to bass rather than electric guitar.
