1. The Bitch on Bass, from Rockbitch. Played a fretless and did a mean slap solo.
2. Early 90's active Hamer Chaparral. Can be played active or passive. Set up for shred so low action, plays lovely. I've had this since the mid 90's and used to have a Roland GK-3 pup on it, which is why the two screw holes by the pups (see pic). Usual dings for a 20 year old guitar which has been played and gigged. The big scratch (shown in pix) was there when I got it. It has been smoothed over and is smooth to the touch. Pickup or possible meet in that London, or wherever the Junkyard Dogs are playing. 3.
Whereabouts are you based? Thanks
That London, SW15.
4. So I'd popped in to the Bass Centre in Denmark Street one Saturday, wanting to try a Peavey Vypyr VIP 3. They didn't have one in, but could order one. I said that I didn't know about buying it, I just wanted to try it. Laurence (sales chap) said they'd had a few enquiries about them, and that they would order one, and I could try it, and if I didn't want it no worries because it would be a cool thing to have in the shop. So the following Saturday I'm back there (after having received a text during the week) to try it. They'd received it on the Thursday but hadn't unboxed it, as they were waiting for me to try it first. This I did with a selection of basses, and Laurence even went to Wunjo to get a guitar so I could try that (VIP stands for variable input). They beat the internet price threw in a lead and free delivery so I didn't have to take it home on the Tube. Awesome!
5.
Tiny bit of lemon oil once per year......job done.
Will a couple of squirts of jiff lemon do?
6. Do we have to use expensive oils or will Mr Sheen etc do the job? Or is it a big no no?
7. There's a bloke works down the chipshop swears he's Elvis.
8. despite being a great sounding high quality cab - 2x12 but not much bigger than a 1x12 - it's not shifting. What do people think? Is the price too high, or just a slow market? Apparently we're out of the recession! lol
9.
The guitarist in my old band has one of these and has used it non-stop for nearly 20 years. He's used it in 40 degree heat in South Africa and -19 degrees in Moscow (outside!) and has never missed a beat. Sounds terrific, relatively compact for its weight, really really loud and will go forever! If I didnt already use an AC15, I'd happily snap this up! Alex
loud, good sound and indestructible!
10.
It's always interesting to hear stories about our friends that have made it in this business, when, how they did it and what level and sector of the business they "made it" in. Any stories? Blue * yeah, I'm in the pic, hidden, but I'm sitting down with my bass in front of what looks like an Ampeg SVT. I was 17. I think the pic is from 1969.lol
one of our number on BC is the brother of Ellie Goulding. And blue, you are rocking that 'fro!
11. Ok will post at the buyers expense. Not sure how much this will be.
12.
How did the Brazil gigs work out? (or Glasto come to that)
This. Pics or it (they) never happened!
13. Due to my inability to post, this is still available. Collection from South West London, or from wherever the Junkyard Dogs are playing.
14. He got The New York Dolls back together so he's alright by me.
15.
Yes. A 'For Sale' post with no pics or 'pics to come later' confuses and infuriates me - and I won't have anything to do with it. When I sell stuff on here it's always with a lot of detailed pics and a full description of the item, its location and how it will be packed and despatched. I'm generally a lazy git so my view is, if I can be bothered then other people should be too! Just listing a bass (for example) and a price with no pics or info is a turn-off for me.
I've done this a couple of times, not all of us have a smart phone or digital camera, so taking a pic then putting it on the line is a pita for me. I'd rather put up an item for sale with full description and pics to follow, than have to wait.
16.
I've only ever had positive experiences with both buying and selling on BC. My only slight issue is people not leaving feedback... I solds three cabs in a week a little while back and left three lots of feedback... got nothing back from any of them.
If you haven't already done so, send them a gentle reminder via pm with a link to your feedback page.
17.
Of me or the bass?
Both
18.
A bloke at work who I hardly know has given me a bass for free. He said he has given up the bass in favour of a six string lead guitar and had heard I play a bit of bass so he brought it in and gave it to me . It has a lovely growly tone and even my pick playing sounds good on it. Random acts of kindness wonderful arent they?
Pics?
19. last night I got paid to go to a beer festival and drink free beer and do a gig with my mates. Living the dream baby
20. Being able to twirl the drumsticks while keeping time.
21. Absolutely no interest in going as a punter, but would love to play there.
22. If it's not good enough for Pino anymore it's not good enough for me.
23. No need to go through the PA then? Bootsy is the man though.
