Noisegates?
There's an easier way to stop squeals on a guitar: Turn your guitar volume down, stand in front of the guitar amp and keep turning the 'gate' level until the guitar only makes a noise when you hit the strings REALLY hard. What you need to do next sounds a bit odd, but bear with me. Turn the 'gate' level up gradually until the guitar doesn't make any noise at all - ideally the 'gate' level will be at maximum by the end of this step. Next you'll need to put the guitar down and walk away. Now pick up a bass and have some fun
quite possibly the best advice given on Basschat

    Noisegates?

i'm a bit confused. Does opening the gate mean letting the sound you want through, or does it mean that the gate effect will start? i want to set up a gate to stop squeals and feedback for guitar (sorry). what settings should i start off with? ta.
  3. don't forget to add or start a feedback thread. This kind of situation is why we have them.
  4.
As a few have said before, you only live once - go get it NOW before it's too late and someone else gets it.
yup how would you feel if it gets snapped up while you dither ? don't forget to post pics.
  5. Mofo46 bought my ME-50B. Remarkably easy transaction, would be more than happy to do business with him again. Marvellous
  6.
My bass is a "she" because I slap her. I also call her my "hoe" because she likes being slapped by her mac-daddy pimp.
i never!

  8.
For boats 'she' is pretty much the accepted terminology, anything else a bit weird. Mind you, I think that football fans who continually go on about 'we should have done this' , or ' we played better in the second half etc' are even more deluded. You're just watching, probably not even at the game, there is no WE! You are just a punter!
Players and coaching staff use the 'we' to refer to the club as a whole, including the fans. A Football club is a club, without the fans it would be nothing. Fans are very much a part of it, and contribute to it's continued existence. Ask any sport psychologist the importance of crowd support. Back OT I think it's similar the reasons boats are 'she'. The vast majority of bassists are men, I would guess the vast majority of those who call their bass 'she' are straight, and would not want to touch a male in the intimate way we touch our basses.
  9. I use Audacity to faff about with mp3's, but does anyone use it for recording? I'm a bit of a technophobe so lack of features is a plus!
  10. in my youth I played drunk and sober. No noticeable difference according to the video and recordings. Of course the term 'drunk' is open to interpretation. I've never been legless or incapable. These days I like to have a few beers as I like to drink ale. Over the course of 4 hours or so I'll have 3 or maybe 4.
  11. started off on classical guitar. Always had emery boards and nail hardner/clear varnish to keep nails in order. Still played when I started bass so I used a bass pick. All fingers now on bass though, and no more serious classical playing. Interesting that Segovia was considered a heretic for using his nails to play.
  12. and so, I finally decided not to add a second pup, but I have got a black Tonepros AVT2 bridge to replace the none adjustable wraparound which is on it.
  13.
8) BTW....The long-awaited definitive book on the history of Hamer Guitars is actually FINALLY coming out in a couple of months!!! I think that will also be a bit of a catalyst to re-spark interest in Hamers. I shot some of the photos http://www.schifferb...n=9780764343520
is that "Serial Steve"?

  16. The theatre show of Rock Of Ages, is both genius and cheese. The film is a grave disappointment.
  17. yup. Why should guitarists have all the fun?
  18.
Possibly the reason for the start of their demise??
i'm guessing the rock/metal market for guitars is the biggest and therefore the most lucrative?
  19. Love my Hamers's. A blitz bass and a Chapparal guitar. Didn't they pull out of the rock/metal market in the 90's?
  20.
, just goes to show what sh*t happens when you sell out to pop producers.
Yup, number 1 singles and albums in most territories, stadium gigs, millions of record sales, millions of £'s earned, and supermodel wifes/girlfriends. Where can I find some pop producers to sell out to?
  21.
Hi do you still have this plz?
yup
  22. this is what i have been happily using for nearly 10 years. i've used it with guitars and basses- 5s and 6s and never had a problem. there is something inside the transmitter that you can tweak to suit the instrument that you are using.
  23. i have a kindle keyboard 3G can't comment on the Fire but would be interested to know.
