1. another no here. Heavier the better for me for tone and feel
2.
Really? What did he modify? Did you get it directly from him? I've heard he's a nice enough guy.
TVM 600 head in the combo upgraded on the treble to give an extra 6db of boost at 11khz, 600w RMS @ 2ohm. Combo runs at 4ohms. I got it from the Bass Merchant when Mike (Zoot) was still running it.
3.
I don't think we're lacking in bass heroes as such, in fact Chris Wolstenholme of Muse and Fieldy of Korn spring to mind,
Muse and Korn have been around for a fair few years. There are still plenty of bass heroes around, but name a new one from the last 5 years?
4. i've posted this before, but I own one of his former combo's my modified TechSoundsystems TVM 600 2x12
5. In Guy Pratt's book he mentions muso ads before punk: ~ guitarist not on a heavy trip wanted ~ and after punk: ~ guitarist wanted, no beards ~ the on I likeD was: ~ vocalist wanted, must have own van and PA ~
6. IMO it's because there are no 'characters' on bass in the newer bands, to inspire kids to take up the bass.
7.
...around £800 at Key Music, plus free delivery. Ordered a vintage sunburst model this afternoon. P
pics when it arrives please!
8.
Post more pics!
this
9. if west London manages to avoid flooding, should be a gun 'un!
10. if we were not gigging tonight I would have jumped on the 85 and been there.
11. cheers for replies, I will take the advice to heart and give it a go. Except for selling it
12. Having been reliably informed that if using a 1 knob compressor 'you're f****d', and that if using a 2 knob compressor 'you're still f*****d', it doesn't change the fact that my compressor only has 2 knobs That been the case I would still like to know how to get the best out of it. Any advice?
13. Last not was a weird one. A 3 set affair at the The Old Ford near Aldershot. There were people in the pub, but not too many, and the England match was on - although they didn't seem to be paying too much attention to it. The audience response was lacklustre to say the least, and was my first gig in the year I have been with the band that no-one danced. But when we played the last song they were cheering for an encore. Go figure.
14. Tonights gig in Aldershot at The Old Ford (Ash Vale) http://www.lemonrock.com/oldfordashvale
15.
And I do believe Manchester has an S in it.
... and Bon Jovi does not have an E.
16.
Disabled People against Cats
Gets my vote!
17. This thread reminds me of the Bill Bailey skit, where the jazz keyboardist thinks he's playing toccata and fugue in Dm, in a solo, but actually ends up playing the theme to Ski Sunday.
18. Arguments about technology are only relevant if placed in context. Jamerson used the most technologically advanced bass of the day, Jimi Hendix used the most modern equipment he could get his hands on. As with all technology good or bad only come in to play when you decide what to do with it, but where music is concerned it can only ever be a matter of opinion.
19.
I don't suppose you know which hotel? I did start thinking about a Northampton bash, there's a thread on here somewhere. I'd just be worried that no-one would turn up and I'd sit there looking silly
I think it was Paul C who used to arrange it? IIRC the hotel was just off M1 junction 15.
