1. would be drooling over this if it was in the porn section. Have a bump on me!
2. The workplace seems to be all about transferable skills so has the experience of being in a band had a positive effect on your day job? For example, having done a few gigs, is standing in front of a room full of people and giving a presentation at work easier or less daunting? Or having arranged band set lists/rehearsals/gigs etc are your organisational skill at work improved? etc?
3.
As well as Lozz's strap height advice, I was wondering if you use a comfort strap (or other padded ergonomic strap)?
is what I was gonna post. The straps I use for bass and my guitars are very wide, for the comfort. They also happen to be shiny and reflective
4. I wish Old Git was here to comment on this
5.
EDIT - an FYI, the Gorrilaz debut album sold 10 million. Quite a far off amount from Blur's combined 24 million.
I guess it depends on where you get your figures from: http://www.vblurpage...ales_albums.htm a wee bit shy of 24 million.
6. if it's not good enough for Norman, it's not good enough for me.
7.
I think it was the millions of albums that they sold.
Even though Damon's first Gorilla album outsold all Blur albums combined, and Alex had a single (Vindaloo?) which outsold all Blur singles combined?
8. I think there may be a tad of confusion surrounding this thread It's actually asking the question 'who was the last guitar hero?'. Guitar heroes as espouced by guitar publications back in the day such as Guitar for the Practising Musician. There has been no mention of, or claim of anything is 'better', and no disparaging other guitarists. I still say Bettencourt. Extreme came to prominence with their second album in 1990. Gilbert was already well known through his Racer X days before Mr Big's first album in 1989, and Slash came in to the scene in with G n R's first album in 1987. Bellamy is a great player, but I'd agree with Leftybassman, he doesn't fit the old school guitar hero mould. .
9. It will look cool when Bootsy is playing it.
10.
And they may not know to not turn up most of the drummers mics in the PA, they are just there to make him happy.
11. My parents went to school with the Yorkshire Ripper. Of course he wasn't the Yorkshire Ripper at the time, that would have been a bit of a give away in later life.
12. Back in the days of Guitar for the Practising Musician, guitar heroes were a plenty. Then gunge came along and did away with all that. But who was the last guitar hero? I mean proper back in the day guitar hero, I reckon Nuno Bettencourt.
13.
Horribly true;)
14. frequent references to Top of the Pops to illustrate how bad music was. People seem to forget Led Zeppelin were still kicking ass, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were around, and Motorhead were getting started. Not to mention all the stateside funk involving Larry Graham and Bootsy Collins.
15. it wouldn't be easy as I'm the youngerst and prettiest
16.
A lot of rubbish is spoken about music
this. /thread
17. I remember back in the 80's when Harrison was in the hit parade with the 45 of 'i've got my mind set on you'. He garnered quite a few votes in the Smash Hits best newcomer poll.
There's only ever been one bad veggie and that was Hitler. The rest are all lovely.
Not according to QI. The veggie part, not the bad part.
18. i fancy a fry up and cuppa now! Different location, but a kind of an old west vibe going on
19. i haven't got any money on my Oyster card from a guitarist. For those not in that London, an Oyster card is a pre-pay travel card.
20. they seem to have got it right with the Les Paul Axcess, but then ruined it by putting on a Floyd Rose trem.
21. ... has sorted out the usual Les Paul problems, in particular upper fret access, balance, no body contouring, and weight?
22. Okay, I know what makes one great for me will be different to you, but for example we have a couple (ahem!) of 12 bars in our set - http://www.junkyarddogslondon.co.uk/home.html thank you very much - but I do particularly enjoy playing Keep Your Hands to Yourself. Not sure why this should be, as every reason I love playing it can be found in other 12 bars
23.
Sorry about the quality, not very good lighting in the room!
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
