nothing ventured... on slower songs vibrato can help disguise any intonation issues.

love distortion but a decent chorus can be so versatile. Many moons ago I used to use the chorus on an old plastic Boss m/fx board, for an envelope filter type sound for playing Lenny Krevice songs.

I've heard Happy Jack's set up a couple of times. From a punters point of view it sounded great with his line-up of 2 guitars and keys, and sounded great with Low End Bee's 3 piece band when he played through it.

due to a combination of all day drinking and winning a bottle of Jack, the bassist in the band we were supporting at a biker rally sat down a few songs in to their set and fell asleep. He wouldn't let go of the bottle of Jack, but gave up his Ricky which I finished the gig on. We did a mixture of their own material and some rock standards. Didn't know most of the tunes but followed the guitarist and busked it, and it worked out all right in the end.

what everyone has said, but also some singer/songwriter types want to do one of their own songs so they'll play the verse and chorus then everyone joins in and follows them.

Yep it's happened to me. The first thing is to make sure the strap length is comfortable. Then you just get on with it

For me the coolest basses ever would have to be more than just a bass, and would have to have some history. So Macca's Hofner, the P that Simonon is tring to destroy on the London Calling cover, Jaco's jazz, Bernard Edwards MM, the bass Lynott did his last gig with... etc...

The only project I can think of, is firewood.
