B-E-A-D

used BEAD with my passive MM Sub. No problems at all. Had to file the nut to fit the low B and that was it. Sounded great too.
2. will be following this one
3. Rather than hide it, why not make a feature out of it? Put some kind of cover on top and make a bass amp coffee table kind of thing
4. started off on classical guitar, and was quite good on electric in an 80's widdler sort of way. Trouble was by the time I could do the 80's widdling it was the 90's and no-one was interested in that sort of thing. It's not much fun been in a band where the guitarist(s) is not good enough to play the guitar parts you write.
5.
No, you just need to go back a few pages to post #101 and post #112!
doh! had seen the vid but missed the piccy link. ta.
6. i was put on to Bassworld by Mike at Iceni. Seems a long time ago now. I remember the first Bash I attended was the second one. Sadly some great people have fallen by the wayside since then...
7.
This thread was inspired partly bu the gig I attended last night and also by the recent thread on Bauhaus who I saw four times in the early 80s and only once did they come back on stage to do an encore and that was only after a good 5 minutes of clapping and cheering from the audience. That to me is how encore should be done.
i saw Bahaus at the Brixton gig when they first reformed. IIRC they did 3 encores. And marvellous they were too.
8.
Played a blinder HJ. Great atmosphere. You're perfect for this venue.
+1 good gig, good beer. Finally made it to the pub despite TFL trying to thwart us at every stage. Nice to have a natter with Low End Bee too.
9. http://www.proloops.com/ don't be fooled by the prices in $'s they are an English company.
10.
I've read the Fender version of that story but also that McCartney thought Fenders were for 'proper' bass players and, being left-handed, the symmetrical Hofner would look more natural anyway. McCartney bought his first Hofner in 1961 in Germany when the Gibson EB1 had been discontinued since 1958 (or thereabouts); so it would seem unlikely that he had an immediate choice between buying the Hofner or the Gibson.
i don't think it so unlikely that a bass in 1961 costing how ever many months wages, could languish in a shop for 2-3 years?
11. when I had a sub I used it in an old school heavy metal band. It did the job fine. The only problem for me was the lack of contouring on the body so it was a bit uncomfortable as it used to dig in to my arm.
12. was in the Bass Cellar on Friday. There semed to be a lot more space and the staff appeared to all be friendly and helpful. Maybe things are changing at last.
13. i've changed the song, again it was using the resources available - so male vocalist this time. This is the last one I'm putting up so I'll leave you all alone soon @ alim, the guitar solo is just as grating
14. Nikki Sixx. Not the best bassist in the world, probably not the best bassist in Motley Crue. But he runs around, throws shapes and poses, and knows how to entertain. That's why he made me want to play bass.
15. Musicians Union membership which comes with £2,000.00 worth of free insurance. This amount can be increased for a reasonable rate.
16. will be sending it to Mickeyboro as soon as I receive his details.
17. i'm popping out in a minute and will post it to Daz.
18. i think The Tyre Kickers would be a good band name.
19. First Bass - Weststone Thunder 1A - but first bass owned Ibanez Blazer Bass 'Go To' Bass - Custon Iceni Zoot 'Your' Bass - Custom Shuker
20.
Great photos, Nige.
+1 those DR's look amazing. No gloves though?
21.
Me at the moment. Apologies for size/quality.
I haven't got my specs on, and through the blur for a second, I read that you were apologising for the sexuality
22.
It says Powerpop on your Myspace. So someone has already done it for you.
that was just because I had to choose a genre to set up the page. And as Mr Foxen said 'it's not doom'. There seems to be agreement on the 80's influence. I think that's fair, so long as I manage to be 80's influenced rather than stuck in the 80's?
23.
I'd go with the Eurythmics type of thing. Good strong beat. Bit of distortion with background of keyboard. Pop Rock? Liked it anyway!
cheers. Pop rock could do.
24.
I went for 'Disco' at first, but then settled for 'whatever sub-genre you'd pigeonhole Blondie & The Eurythmics in'. This Genre Generator turfed up 'Global Techno-Funk' which is vaguely appropriate, whereas this one came up with 'modern world miami power trance'... which isn't. Sorry. Not much help. As you were. Carry on.
i quite like 'poco-poco transgender neo crust pop'
