still haven't bothered renewing, still not missing it. Imperfections are one thing, but from what is being posted here there are some whoppers still going on with BGM.

If this were any other bass than a Hamer, I'd be saying cool mod, the SG shape is the way to go. But being a Hamer-phile - aaarrrgggghhhhh! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

started on 4, went up to 6, came down to 5, and now happily on 4 but with an extra 2 frets on my E string for a low D.

Back in the early 60's I had an audition with a 4 beat combo from Liverpool. I was offered the gig, but they were planning on doing some gigs in Germany for a while which I didn't fancy, so I turned them down. I often wonder what happened to them...

Discuss?[/quote] If you can do it, it's another weapon in your arsenal. Sometimes a bit of varience from 'traditional' techniques can be quite effective. It's not something that can only be used in a solo situation, adapting technique within a song for certain passages can sometimes add to it.

when he played Kubicki's he extolled the virtues of the drop D, so I assume this - or at least his - will have a Hipshot? I've always liked the necks on basses Stu played, he must have wee hands like me!

Had a great time as always, and as always didn't get to do everything I wanted or to chat to as many people as I would have liked - but that's what the next Bash is for! The organisation is fantastic. Been able to wind a rig up in the 'loud room', play with a drummer and guitarist in the 'jam room', and try out gear in the 'quiet room' and worshops in the theatre, great gear and great people. Mucho thanks to Clarky for the lift, and to Urb for my impromptue lesson in slapping! My thanks too to the organisers and workshop guys. How much did we raise? BTW I still don't understand compressors, but now thanks to s1m0n I don't understand them in a far more scientific way

sure colour matters, just as looks do. What Truckstop said really. I do like none standard colours though. Why would you want to be like everyone else?
