1.
plus the one on the behringer - does the job.
there's a link somewhere to a guy ABing a Sansamp with the Behringer. The difference in sound is negligable or not noticeable. IMO. YMMV.
  2.
For reasonably cheap and cheerful active DI boxes you could look at the Samson S-Direct or the Behringer DI100 Andy
beat me to it on the Behringer.
  3.
London is a very expensive place to live, shop and even pay for a bus fare, but that's because our stores are afflicted by a very high cost for the rent for their premises, licenses etc, all these overheads are items which an internet outlet is not subject to. Hence internet killed the shop star!
this to me, seems to be the problem that is overlooked. The internet is blamed but the high rents are accepted? Why aren't the landlords who charge these high rents blamed for creating/maintaining a situation where the businesses that pay them can't afford to be competitive? The subtext of every argument that we should buy from stores that can't compete with internet prices, is that we should line the pockets of greedy landlords. In Camden there are campaigns against the chains moving in and undercutting the independent businesses who can't afford to compete because of the high rents. No-one seems to be campaigning against the high rents.
  4.
OK so I'm gonna be hitting Denmark Street for the first time in May...
What used to be Andy's Music is now Music Ground. Andrew Preston former owner of Andy's still works there. I took him to court when he [s]stole [/s]sold my amp on sale or return, and didn't give me the money. I didn't get anything because he eventually declared bancruptcy. I still have the debtors list from the official receiver, it contains lots of punters like me, who had items [s]stolen [/s]sold and never got their money. Have a look around by all means, but possibly one to avoid doing business with.
  5. Is it wrong that I think that is absolutely awesome?

Myself and steviedee had a bit of an effects trade. Excellent communication through out, product well packed and as described. Can heartily recommend edited to correct dodgy spelling.
  7. can't believe I've just seen this thread! I have a Hamer Blitz - Explorer type shape - it's a beast, and IMO cool as the proverbial. Yours is looking sweet, can't wait to see it finished.
  8. come on guys, more pics needed!
  9.

oh yes
  10. has anyone gigged these cabs yet?
  11.
Yes but with all due respect, people pay in to a gig to hear and see live music.. not tricks or party pieces.
that's the point though isn't it? there isn't any music happening - guitarists tuning etc - so it's all about keeping the punters entertained and trying not to lose the momentum.
  12. when I was teaching, I used to encourage and work on little tricks and party pieces, so that during a gig if there was such a gap then step forward the bass player and entertain the crowd for 30 seconds or so. As I was working with rock/metal bassists it worked quite well.
  13. Everyone remember to take lots of pics!
  14. The Hamer, the Rex, and as you have 2 one of the Axe basses please
  15.
Just got one. Tracks pretty well - not as good as a Roland GK equiped bass - but fast enough to record or gig with. It's VERY easy to use, doesn't mess up your bass, is smaller than a fag packet and is quite cheap to buy (£70ish). Highly recomended!
Would using it with a wireless add latency?
  16.
Dat's a crarcker !!!
It's the way he tells them
  17.
I'll badger my daughter to speak to the head tomorrow - do we prefer a Saturday or a Sunday?
Sunday, then folk don't have to worry about shooting off to Saturday night gigs?
  18.
Looking to simplify my sound so after a good preamp/di/distortion. Sansamp or similar, open to offers and ideas. Also got a palatino ve-500 for sale or trade.
pm'd.
  19.
and just bloody gorgeous.
this is true!
  20. I've played different gigs as support to female strippers and male strippers (The Dream Boys). Guess which was more fun? Actually the Dream Boys gig, coz we got free booze and food!
  21. I know the brother of no1 pop star Ellie Goulding, via an internet forum for bass players
  22. are we all signing this one?
  23.
That's gear porn.

oh. my. days.

Whoa mama......
+1 to all the above.
  24. I used to have 2 red Kubicki's. When gigging it made sense having the spare bass the same as the one being played. Having said that, one was made by Phil Kubicki and the other was made by the Fender custom shop and had better electronics.
  25. I've mentioned him before, but Peter King is criminally lacking in the renown he deserves - and would probably have if he was from the States.
