2.
I play with a drummer who has also played with Nick Turner's Space Ritual - that puts me on the extreme outer edge of the Hawkwind family tree. sort of.
Nick Turner was my saxophone teacher in the late 80´s. Not that one ^^^^ but he did used to get Hawkwind fans turning up to his gigs by mistake.
 3. + me. In every original material band I´ve played bass in, I have created or adapted bass lines which have ususally raised the music a couple of notches, as they were created to suit the song. - me. Playing ridiculously fast for no apparent reason through lots of distortion with piched harmonics makes me far happier than it should.
 4. i´m in will add to the list when it´s up.
 5. can I offer you something tradewise? how are you for kidneys?
 6.
You did mate! Gareth gave us Hartke strings and pedal for the raffle or teh South Wales Bass Bash. Thanks again!
and for the SE Bash. I´m happily using my Hartke strings.
 7. i post this in every thread about Squarepusher, but I own one of his old combo´s that he gigged at the Albert Hall it´s been tweaked and customised by Mike Walsh of Zoot, who is Sqarepusher´s go-to-guy. There is stuff from when he was on The Culture Show somewhere on Youtube which is worth watching, and more musically accessible.
 8.
...but if you're hosting the images yourself, you can include as many as you like in the main description with no charge.
yeah that's what I'm saying look at the link in the OP, 1 picture of the bass in the top left of the listing. All other pics within the text so no charge.
 9.
You're going to have to explain that one... sorry!
IIRC there is a charge for each of the pics on the top left that you click on? Doing an image for the text means you can include pics as part of the image and not be charged. For some businesses whose major sales income comes from ebay a couple of quid saved on each sale soon adds up.
 10.
Lovely. It does puzzle me why these people choose to have their auction text as an image, rather than 'real' text..
because you can include more pictures without being charged?
 11.
good 'un Al Heeley ! the piano was the successor to the harpsichord I think (if that's wrong - please someone say so) around the 1700's or so. The harpsichord wasn't tuned in 'even' intervals, which made it sound out of tune when played in certain keys ( the same way that if you tune a guitar to sound really nice in one key, it may sound not quite right in others). The answer to this awkwardness with changing keys was to invent an instrument tuned in 'even' intervals - the piano.
Not quite, 'well tempered tuning' was used on the harpsichord and clavier before the piano, hence Bach's compostion 'the well tempered clavier' in which the same instrument - his clavier - played pieces that go through all keys.
 12. middle C is the note between the bass and treble clef staves.
 13. come on 'fess up we are all dying to know! Which lucky [s]bast [/s]person now owns it?
 14.
Downside? It's 54" long (about 2" longer than a Thunderbird) & the case is enormous. Gigbag? That'd be nice but they're all too small. Pete.
my Hamer Blitz (Explorer shape) fits nicely in one of these: Warwick RB 20624 B/PLUS for BC Rich Ironbird, MockBird, Thunderbird Bass Guitar http://www.9mileguitar.com/product.sc?prod...;categoryId=105

 16. like it and love the mirrored plate. Now all you have to do is make sure you have a light shining at it when you are on stage
Heh! I have to admit ignorance here and tell you that I don't know who Phil Lynott is! <--- Classical/Jazz musician!
he's the bloke who married Leslie Crowther's daughter.
 17.
I'm still waiting.
if you got to ask, you ain't never gonna know
 18. I've used a Hartke 4x10 combo in a rehearsal studio and got a great tone I liked. But at the SE bash I jammed with the drummer through a GK 400RB head (think that was the model - definately a GK though) and for me it was so much better. I like a big fat rock tone and the low mid punch on the GK was exactly how I like it. There's a lot of love on here for both Hartke and GK, ultimately the only right choice is the ones your ears make.
 19. hey welcome! don't forget to put pics of your Zoot in the Iceni thread
 20.
At least they don't take themselves too seriously
"this can colour the sound and the mood from demurely subtle to wantonly filthy"
 21.
Phew! That's not too shabby at all for your first four years! I wonder what the next four will bring?!
budget bassist? not from bass 4 onwards
