1. The cord between the 2 halves is about 2 meters.
2. Includes footswitch and 2/3 of a bottle of smoke liquid
3. I need to point out an issue which may affect the sale. As you can see from the pic below, there are 2 raised bits which were caused from the bolts holding the neck on. This happened during the previous body I had made by Jon. It doesn't affect anything that I know of, and Mike put it all together with his usual attention to detail, and The Bass Gallery have faffed with the neck so if there was an issue there isn't now. I mention it to give the full details and not to hide anything.
4.
Denmark St used to be fun. I remember going from one side of the street to the pther trying to get the best deal. Pretty sure that (apart from Rose Morris and Andy's) they're owned by one company.
Andy went bankrupt, not sure who owns it now. He managed to keep his Rolls Royce though
5. Get a battery charge checker thing. Mine was less than a fiver from Maplins. Palm size thing. If necessary check the batteries in the shop and show the owner/staff.
6.
I was lucky enough to know the guys at The Bass Centre in Wapping (now defunct). They were nothing but welcoming and when I had to buy something, it's the place I took my cash too. In Glasgow though, had bad experiences with a couple of shops, which I just don't go to anymore. My wife was going shopping and offered to go in there and get a truss rod wrench for a guitar I had. She took the neck into Strung Out Guitars so they could give her the right size. The two women (who it turns out own the shop, were nothing but patronising and nasty saying that they couldn't possibly sell such a thing, no-one who wasn't trained should do the job anyway and that whole guitar should be brought in for a full setup. Apparently one of them used to work in Andy's in Denmark St. Say no more.
I never resist the opportunity to stick the boot into Andrew John Preston of Andy's Guitars. His address at Denmark Street had various business names all of which had CCJ's against them. He'd just create a new business name and leave the debts. This is a matter of public record, check it out via Companies House. He is also a liar, thief, and scum. This is a matter of public record too, because I filled papers with the High Court stating as much (although in the correct legal language).
7.
Pretty sure the £299 is the starting bid, no reserve. The guy wants to move it on Mex Fender money for a luthier built bass, the build quality on my Zoot really is impeccable, this bass is a steal!
+1 my Zoot is awesome too, but couldn't let it go for that!
8.
Quick update on this: I messaged the seller to say it would go if he was willing to post. Seems like a decent guy, it's re-listed and ends today He says he will post and the price is now down to £299 + £25 postage, absolute steal and someone off here should definitely buy it. Then sell it to me when i have the money Ta all Steve
would he have sold it for £299 or was there a reserve?
9. is there a website for the Bass Cellar? If you google them this thread is the first listing
10.
Can you turn the flashing off and have the lights just on ?
just tried and no. The flashing can be slowed and speeded up, and set to react to music (although I think volume) but not just on. I also noticed one of the yellow bulbs is dead and needs replacing so have knocked a fiver of the original asking price.
11. with deep regret, but impending joblessness and homelessness means I'm having to let this go. Fortunately I paid for my Shuker up front, and it's impending arrival will take the edge off. This bass is a bit like Triggers broom. I'll explain. The original commision was for a bass built with every component as heavy as possible. The guy who ordered it believed heavy = better tone. I got it from VMax Blues, and the guy he got it from was the 2nd owner, who had a new neck (still made by Mike at Iceni) put on it. I have since had a new body made by Jon Shuker, and this one again made by Mike, put on it, and had it faffed and re-fretted by The Bass Gallery dudes, as the neck had LED's but they had been removed before it got to me. American swamp ash body maple neck with rosewood board brass nut 2 x Iceni Heartland HB's 3 band EQ, blend, vol passive/active switch Strap locks I'll try put pics up over the weekend. Collection only from that London, South West. I'm wanting £499.99 but will accept offers. As long as they are above the asking price
12.
Can you turn the flashing off and have the lights just on ?
not sure, I'll put them on tomorrow and get back to you.
13. I dunno. This is meant to be a community, and there's a certain amount of trust. I would trust that something is been sold for a fair price, and if it wasn't I would want to know.
14. My subsciption has lapsed and I haven't seen the new issue, but I can't say I'm missing it
15. Getting closer, don't forget your camera and spare batteries for your camera, and a spare camera!
One day I shall tred in yours and Tait's footsteps
me too, Shuker jazz body with a P pup, and a reverse jazz headstock.
16. You go to see a band. That suggests a visual experience. The fact that we are up on a stage is saying to people 'hey look at me'. So IMO it's best to give them something to look at. Specific geners have their styles, but I'd love to see a string quartet wearing ripped demin and metal t-shirts.
17. well done! some Universities accept Grade 8 instrument grades as an A level equivalent.
18. Bought new about 5 years ago, they are in a box that comes apart and has 4 coloured lights in each side. They have been gigged and the condition reflects this. Not bad but a couple of scuffs, and a slight tear on one corner. The lights react to volume and the reaction is adjustable. Makes it look like you are doing a gig rather than playing in someone's front room. I'll try put pics up this weekend but it's this kind of thing (although not the model shown) http://www.electromarket.co.uk/pp/Disco_Li...Controller.html Got to be worth £24.99 to someone? Collection only, I'm in that London, South-West. Ta
19. Bought new 14 years ago it's the SS type. Peavy Express 112 60w Guitar Combo. It's done plenty of gigs and the condition relects this, but it's in good nick and works fine, and is plenty loud enough. Got to be worth £39.99 to someone? I'll try put pics up over the weekend. Collection only from that London. South-West. Ta edited to say it's the combo, and not just an amp.
20. Power Fog Jazz 200 Smoke machine, uses the water based liquid for the smoke so safe and non-toxic. Wired remote control with LED power and ready to fog indicators. I've had it about 7 years (wasn't bought new) but for the last 4 it's been in a cupboard. Will try put pics up over the weekend. Got to be worth £29.99 to somebody? Collection only though, I'm in that London, South-West. Ta edit to say it comes with a 2/3 full bottle of smoke fluid.
21. Dudes! Try vinegar. Cheap and safe and works.
22. whatever works for you. But 3 fingers gives you more versitility and if you can use your ring finger it's a shame to waste it
23. well I couldn't afford it, as in 5 weeks time I will be jobless and homeless, but I've always loved Hamer's since buying a Chaparral guitar in the early 90's, but it is now mine It's also a good job I haven't quite got over the 80's Gigged her last night. Lovely sound, plenty of low end, lots of adjustment to technique for finger style though.
