I'm thinking of putting a sticker on my bass, but was wondering is there anything I can do to the sticker, so that removing it will be easier - should I choose to do so a couple of years down the line? ta.

what we have today is no different, as many have already pointed out, except that today there are better quality budget instruments, which is good as more people playing. Also it's easier to get better quality recordings on a budget, which is good as more people writing and recording. The internet has made distribution and access to music available to anyone who can record. The downside is that because of the ease of access and the number of people doing it, there is a lot of crap out there. There has always been crap out there, but perhaps today it's more noticeable because there are greaters numbers able to put a product out for public consumption.

It's all personal opinion. I've had an Ampeg rig before (okay I had the porta bass rig) and it sounded great and did the job. IMO my old PJB M500 out Ampeged any Ampeg head I'd ever heard, but to be fair I've never stood in front of a SVT and 810 blasting it out. It's the iconic rock/metal bass thing, and if you get off on that I'd say money well spent.

Popular music as we know it today, is a regression in terms of musical evolution. The tonalities, harmonies, rhythmic devices, were all going strong 500 years ago. Popular music, has not progressed music in any way. To talk about how talented popular musicians are today is almost laughable if you compare them to musicians from the Baroque period. And as for the metal thing, I saw the Anvil film the other night. At times funny, sad, and plain embarrassing, what it does is give false hope to metal bands pushing 40 who should have given up years ago, featuring idiots like this

Another reason bands today don't sound as good is because we are used to listening to them on MP3's. As I'm sure you all know over 90% of the auditory information of a music recording is lost when compressed to MP3.

Fender Bassman. nuff said. ok I'll say a bit more. Originally a lovely Bass amp but used by countless guitarists too and sounds great.

Actually I got it wrong - it's not just a wooden neck, there's graphite involved too. The bendwell is kinda my own design because it doesn't run across the whole width of the neck. It looks nicer than the Status ones too

my custom build is due to what I want not being out there. So a monkey grip, bendwell, extra frets for drop D tuning, pulsating pink LED's, and an all in one ramp/pup cover/thumb rest, all on one bass. Conservative? I play in an old school heavy metal band, so I like the old classic tone, bottomy but punchy through the low mids. For me using the 2x12's makes all the difference.
