I had the Dalek - the 16B, 8T, and M500 head. The head is awesome. Tonewise it's all there, in my old school rock band it out Ampeged the Ampegs - IMO and the rest of the bands. The cabs are as heavy as you would expect, having 16 speakers in the bottom and 8 at the top. I had to get rid because the 16B wouldn't fit in my new car, otherwise I would still have it.

+1 for Jaco. I have listened lots of his stuff, solo, Weather Report, Zawinal, etc. but I've never thought 'ah that's why he was considered (or considered himself) best player in the world'. Imagine if a bass teacher taught her pupils to just use one finger to pick with. Not good? Jamerson does it and is considered a genius. Imagine how he would have played if he'd had a better technique, rather than just a technique that worked (albeit rather well) for him. Maybe he'd have been able to get the session work in the late 70's and 80's and still be with us?

The Yamaha QY10 is a hand-held music workstation produced by the Yamaha Corporation in the early 1990s. Possessing a MIDI sequencer, a tone generator and a tiny single-octave keyboard, the portable and battery-powered QY10 enables a musician to compose music while travelling. Got to be worth the postage to someone? Is in it's box and with the manual. Stick a fiver in my paypal and it's yours.
EDIT: OK - first vid uploaded to YouTube - 1st one I did - POD XT Overview. I KNOW it's not very good, and I KNOW the comentary is naff, it's just to give an idea. Had to fend off the kids coming in while I was doing it too! My firstest ever upload to youtube! 5 more to upload but going to bed now, been a long day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3iHFUQwE00 What woud be good is those of you who have had a POD for ages and know how to use them proper like could do some instructional vids for those lesser mortals like meself who have just bought one. EDIT: 18/03/2007 > Uploaded two last night, one took ages only to have it rejected for being too long. Oh well - have to re-do it. This got uploaded though... This is the synth stuff. Spent a lot of time last night playing with the synth effects trying hard to understand them. Starting to get a grip on some, but still prefer the Korg's offerings. The POD has an issue (well it is to me) where as the signal decays on the Korg it tracks perfectly, whereas on the POD as a sustained note decays it reaches a threshold and drops so there's a sudden step down. Can anyone tell me if this is by design or just how it is? I doubt I'd use these in reality anyway but if they are there I want to know about them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7FWpldetl4 Okey Dokey boys and girls - finally got the 2 Korg vids uploaded!! Had to split the original one in 2: Part 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M0I14RmhWE Part 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxqDxuMXCzs Be nice with the feedback. Don't mind if you say it's crap (I beat you to it anyway!) but it's my personal opinion. And it seems a lot of people agree with me. Line 6 seem to have no interest what so ever in developing the Bass POD XT Live (or any bass kit), the more people that get on their site and hassle them with feature requests the better. Also - wot about you lot who've had one for ages? How 'bout a tutorial or 3? :0) If ya don't like the videos, do one that's better!
thanks for the vids, most helpfull. I'm looking at getting the Korg, what's a good 2nd price?
-
My issue with it, is that the guitar equivalent sold at the same price, has more amps and more effects.

I've played support to strippers twice. Once for lady strippers, and once for the Dream Boys. Can't really get much more wrong
Wow...lots of arguement about the ad. We're not excluding people outside that age range. If they are the right person who can play their ass off as well as perform well then we'd go for it. But in practise i;d rather spend hours and hours of each day cooped up in a bus with someone of a similar age to me. We're more likely to get on.
cool band, glad you came back I'm relocating to Southampton, or that London, (don't know which yet) but not until September

The Boss ME-50B would have been perfect; simple to use; no amp modelling; all the effects I want (compression, delay, chorus); the octave above with independent overdrive; the double octave above thing; tuner; and all in one box. But after trying Bassblokes at the Bash, I was let down by the distortions. I'm need an overdriven sound for screaming harmonics and shredding, which it doesn't do. So basically what I'm after is a ME-50B with decent distortion/overdrive. Any help and opinions appreciated. cheers

Celebrity Gear - once used by the famous
MacDaddy replied to Born 2B Mild's topic in General Discussion
I'm always a bit wary of celeb muso owned gear. I mean if it's not good enough for *insert name here* then why should it be good enough for me? Having said that, my Tech Soundsystem combo used to belong to Squarepusher. -
reasons to stay and keep healthy as a player
MacDaddy replied to greyparrot's topic in General Discussion
Not sure what you mean? Do you mean in general - eating 5 a day type stuff, or do you mean avoiding things like RSI by playing and using the right techniques?
