*rescues the topic from the dead* well guys, I'm thinking about ordering a pair of these things. just a question though - should I get the Etymotic ER-20 or the Alpine Music Safe Pro?
I've got both. I find the Alpines to be more comfortable and discreet, but the ER-20's are easier and quicker to put in and take out. As Dood says check them both out.
http://line6.com/pocketpod/ why there is not bass version?? after sansamp that would be my second GAS
from the line 6 website: Can I use Pocket POD with other instruments besides guitar? Yes! We cooked up an entire set of presets specifically for use with bass and vocals, but you can get creative and plug in anything you've got with a 1/4 inch instrument level out!
 3. Nikki Sixx looks amazing for 49, bearing in mind lifestyle etc

 6.
I've just bought one of these, and yes, it has a tuner! I actually like it. I have used other multi-effects in the past, but to be honest they tend to have loads of effects which I never use, and are fiddly to programme. The floor pod has a few basic (and usable) effects, and is very easy to programme. The amp models are decent enough (although the synth is pretty useless). A lot of the time I simply use it as a compressor and tuner, and it does both jobs well. My only reservation is that it does feel a bit plasticky next to, say, the Zoom B2.
can the tuner cope with a low B?
 7.
as it's being sung by a laddy half cut cocky good looking red-blooded scot
Rod Stewart CBE (born January 10, 1945), is a singer and songwriter born and raised in London, England.
 8.
think I'll wait for version 2 (if they do one) which hopefully will have delay and a tuner.
I've just discovered it does have a tuner, but only by watching the 'movie' on the Line 6 website. Nowhere else in the spec on the site, or any others, has mention of the tuner Is it just taken for granted now that multi-effects units/pedals will have a tuner?
 9.
ok it's now with me, I'll pm you for your addy when I'm done.

I got missed out. 10.
Are you in an 80's hair metal tribute band by the way? Haha.
nope, I did it for real at the time
who says the pics have to be of the finished article?
True, and as soon as I have pics of progress they will go up

 12.
So you want a bass with everything pretty much? fair play, although if you don't keep this bass for the rest of your life I will laugh so hard....
well I'm not bothered about active EQ, or lots of tonal options. There's only gonna be 2 pots, one for volume, and one for the LED's. Jon's looking at both options for the strings. He says its not a problem to get hold of standard and extended scale strings, its just the odd size double balls. He has a chap who makes them, and he's getting a price for a set for future reference.
 13.
I love custard (has to be Ambrosia in cartons).
+1!
 14.
As you'll need the longer E string for the Kubicki extended range D, right?
right! and B string when I restring BEAD.
 15. For no apparent reason I started to worry about strings. Jon said he can get some made if its a problem, but thinks clamping the strings will be better than using double ball, as getting hold of strings will be easier.
 16.
Wooooooow Pink front lights! Scallops! cor!
it's a throwback to my hair metal days.
 17. A customised US P-Bass, that had a bass boost and a j pup. Sold it to pay rent 15 years ago, for £150.00 And my vintage Fender Bassman head, stolen from me by Andrew John Preston, of Andy's Guitars. The fact that he is now a bankrupt is no comfort.
 18. I like to keep the bottom end and do what the song requires. But I also like to kick on some distortion and play ridiculously fast for no apparent reason. But as a bass player, I like to explore all techniques and find out what the instrument, and myself, are capable of.
 19. For the neck wood I'm going for paduak /wenge. I think it would look nice with the purple. A quote from John "Paduak is a bright orangey red when cut but it tones down to a darker red after afew months or so. Its a very stable wood and would give a very defined sound, probably add a bit to the midrange". heres the pic of a wenge / paduak laminate. This one is a 7 piece off an elite but it gives you the idea, but imagine it the other way round, inverted.
 20. cheers for the replies, there are a lot of options to consider. At the moment I'm having a custom passive headless built (there is a thread in the diaries) and I'm thinking that when it's finished, I'd want something similar - but cheaper - as a spare. I may try and source a Kramer Duke, IIRC that's the one with the tuners on the bottom?
 21.
If I used a headless in my band I would be laughed off stage, which is a shame, as I'd like one It goes with being in a punk rock band though.
nah, just cover it with stickers and paint on an Anarchy symbol and you'll be ok
 22.
I just had my hand made leather pork pie hat delivered today, so now i'm a bass player with a hat Beautiful hat it is to, made by Jill Corbett of Brighton.
pics?
 23.
Dude.. 34" and 32" ;o) I think you have been refering to a 34 foot and 32 foot scale above ... its ok, we're only jestin'
well I was going for the Spinal Tap reference, but no-one twigged - doh!
 24. QUOTE (MacDaddy @ Nov 24 2007, 04:06 PM) 34' scale
wow just imagine the piano-like tones you could get out of that monster, i can't imagine you'd be able to play very fast if you needed a very tall ladder just to play the 1st fret!!!
I've decided on 32'. It makes more sense as the Kubicki's and King Bass are both 32' - should make getting strings easier too Thanks for all the positive comments, next up will be pics of the neck woods.
