  1. Rock and Roll Christmas, was.
  2. Agreed Gary Glitter wrote some great songs, but my understanding is that he sold his song catalogue so doesn't make money from them anymore? All it takes is an accusation, and the court of public opinion condems, regardless of the truth.
  3. What's interesting is how many British bands were in the USA Live Aid lineup.
  4. I usually mod guitar/basses thus killing the resale value 😆 It was only when I started buying my custom Shuker's that my basses were exactly how I wanted them, so no need to mod.
  5. This is who immediately sprang to mind for me, but it took 5 pages for someone to post it 😆
  6. Haven't got a pic, but I'd be interested in tracking down my old 6 string Shuker. Sold it many years ago on a previous incarnation of Basschat, but can't remember to whom.
  7. I saw SLF when they headlined a Punk all dayer in Bath, back in 1995. Bruce Foxton on bass 😎
  8. Burn him!
  9. GNU Terry Pratchett

  10. Paging @Happy Jack
  11. Who owns the PA? If you left would you be paid your share of it?
  12. Sometimes I was looking for a particular sound and/or volume level, other times I was looking for something that would fit in the (new) car.
  13. HH combo. Weighed as much as a small tank. College amp, not mine, but I used it and gigged with it. Marshall 100w Bass and Guitar amp. Probably the worst amp ever made. Much transistor nastiness. 15" Peavey Black Widow cab. Painted black. Indestructible. Peavey 15" Combo. Green carpeted, probably one of GP7's? Never let me down. Loud enough for any gig. And I mean any gig! Fender Bassman 500 (IIRC). Valve loveliness vintage tone and then some. Traynor 60w valve bass combo. Hands down the best bass sound I've ever had. Just not loud enough for the gigs I was doing at the time. Ampeg PF-250 & matching 2*12. Never seen another Portoflex 2*12 since. Great head, undeniable Ampeg tone, but again not loud enough. PJB Dalek. M-500 head, T-8 & B-16 cabs. Looked great, but the head (heavy) sounded better with other brand speakers. TechSoundSystem 500w 2*10 combo. Folded speakers so smaller than a normal 2*10. Difficult - but achievable - to get a good sound. 2*12 TechSoundSystem cab. Folded speakers. Still got. Mainly used with: TecAmp Puma 500. Not the most versatile of amps but sounds great. Peavey Vampyr VIP III. Guitar and Bass modelling amp and fx. Ridiculously good value. Loud enough to gig with bass. Ashdown miBass 500. Lies lies lies! It is not 8.3x2.6x6.3 inches as per the Ashdown website, it's a lot bigger! Will edit if there's something I've forgotten.
  14. "Hello Cleveland!"
  15. Bauhaus Even though they're my best buds fave band, I never liked them at the time. It was much later I realised how incredibly awesome they were. I saw them when they first reformed and toured, that gig is in my top 5 best gigs ever.
  16. Or a folding bass

  19. Started happening to me during the week. Only on Basschat.
  20. If you have a decent amp, why would you need a preamp?

  22. To be serious for a minute, this is my latest Shuker, but there is method beyond the madness... 😆
  23. Headstock from a Gibson reverse flying V. Worries over the reliability of the G string stopped me buying one. Now they go for 4x what I would have paid 😖
  24. About 20 years ago I was in there with a friend who got glassed. The perpetrator was allowed to escape through the bar.
