Me too, no interest at all in going to any of the big - expensive - festivals as a punter. But I'll happily go to the big biker rallies (Rock & Blues Custom Show, Bulldog Bash, etc) which are pretty much the same thing but with more bikes.

I think that everything you mention makes it easier. All the musicians have to do is learn the song and turn up and play it. They don't have to worry about bringing a PA and getting a decent FOH sound, they don't have to worry about promoting the event and/or selling tickets, and they will have nothing to do with setting up and operating the TV cameras. As for the song itself, we're hardly talking Stanley Clarke levels of virtuosity, any half decent bass/guitar/keys/drums player should be able to nail it.

I loved my Hamer Blitz bass, but I couldn't reach the furthermost tuning pegs. I had to pull it across, to tune it.

Many years ago, there was no difference between recorded performances after much booze, when compared to no booze. These days I'm feeling it after the first pint, and more than 3 means severe hangover. So it's a no from me. Plus I don't drink and drive.
