Yesterday's afternoon gig, was at Choko Beerfest. The last of my dep gigs for The Soul Seniors. It was in a marquee at the back of a village hall in rural Oxfordshire. There was beer on sale, but it was more like a 'family fun day' what with all the kids running about. As it was a lovely day, most people we're in the sun outside the marquee, but they seemed to be listening as we were getting applause. I took minimal gear, bass setup was: Bass - wireless - pedal tuner - BDI21 - PA. It was a tinny bass sound from the monitors but it sounded good out front. Got back home to that London in daylight.

C Country Music Awards and not a Stetson in sight! 😉

I restrung mine B-E-A-D as I was playing in a Sadistic Darkwave band at the time (don't ask!). It handled the low B fine, just had to route the nut notch a tad.

IIRC there was a red passive USA Sub for sale here recently, last year, or the year before?
-
I bought one when they first came out. Or rather I ordered one, black and passive, and was sent a black and active. Back it went, and a few weeks later I was sent a red and passive. Back it went, then a couple of weeks later I finally received my black passive USA Sub. I posted about it on the Music Man forum, in a thread called 'The bass they didn't want me to have!'. This became the thread they did not want to show, because it was deleted. 3 times 😝 Anyway I really liked the bass, it sounded like a MM despite being passive, lovely neck, and wasn't too heavy. I only got rid because I play fingerstyle and the edge of the body was not contoured, and used to dig into my arm, eventually quite painfully by the end of a gig. With hindsight I should have just chamfered a tad off the corner where my arm rested.

It doesn’t have to be in English to be good, does it?

I know he didn't actually sing it himself, but this is still a great song -

Loving the zebra print troos! Takes me back ☺️

@Merton I hope you're gonna bring this to the SE Bass Bash? 😁

The whole 'I could never play like that' thing probably deserves its own thread, but unless you have a physical infirmity, technical ability is achievable, but it takes practice (and probably more practice than most of us can do who work for a living) and also knowing what and how to practice. Musicality on the other hand is a different matter.

Does Glen Matlock use Mex P's?

The bassist in The Super Grass infamously used an Ibanez Blazer Bass. Great basses too, when even the budget Ibanez were still made in Japan.

Further to my previous post... Set up was Shuker no3 (first time gigged) ➡️ Swiff Audio wireless bug ➡️ Hardwire pedal tuner ➡️ Obbm patch lead ➡️ Behringer BDI21 ➡️ P.A.

Bunkfest, or more accurately Bunkfest Fringe, last night. Depping gig, for 'The Soul Seniors' featuring @Happy Jack of this parish doing his maiden gig on keys. We were playing on a covered stage in a pub car park. There was a Sound Engineer, but he was doing the job at at a few places so was flitting between venues. This was my first gig in a couple of years, and TBH I felt it. You can be as prepared as possible - practicing and rehearsals - but onstage in front of a crowd is different. It took a couple of songs for me to feel at ease, then I started to enjoy it. The songs helped, classic soul, with a bit of funk, and disco, great basslines for a bassist to play. I had a couple of 'lapses of concentration' but nothing major. Fortunately I was rescued by the band when I missed an end cue and kept playing, it ended up sounding like an intentional break 😆

One more here for the laptop bags. Charity shops usually sell them at cheap prices.
