  1. If chicken fat was good enough for Jaco... ๐Ÿ˜œ
  2. Can't comment on the OP's choice, but just for a contrary opinion, I have a Puma 500 and it sounds lovely and warm.
  3. I gigged for years with the equivalent green carpet covered one. Great combo ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  4. For those of us who do not do the Twitter, could you provide some context please ๐Ÿ™‚
  5. Yesterday's afternoon gig, was at Choko Beerfest. The last of my dep gigs for The Soul Seniors. It was in a marquee at the back of a village hall in rural Oxfordshire. There was beer on sale, but it was more like a 'family fun day' what with all the kids running about. As it was a lovely day, most people we're in the sun outside the marquee, but they seemed to be listening as we were getting applause. I took minimal gear, bass setup was: Bass - wireless - pedal tuner - BDI21 - PA. It was a tinny bass sound from the monitors but it sounded good out front. Got back home to that London in daylight.
  6. C Country Music Awards and not a Stetson in sight! ๐Ÿ˜‰
  7. I restrung mine B-E-A-D as I was playing in a Sadistic Darkwave band at the time (don't ask!). It handled the low B fine, just had to route the nut notch a tad.
  8. His addictions in no way justify his behaviour.
  9. IIRC there was a red passive USA Sub for sale here recently, last year, or the year before?
  10. I bought one when they first came out. Or rather I ordered one, black and passive, and was sent a black and active. Back it went, and a few weeks later I was sent a red and passive. Back it went, then a couple of weeks later I finally received my black passive USA Sub. I posted about it on the Music Man forum, in a thread called 'The bass they didn't want me to have!'. This became the thread they did not want to show, because it was deleted. 3 times ๐Ÿ˜ Anyway I really liked the bass, it sounded like a MM despite being passive, lovely neck, and wasn't too heavy. I only got rid because I play fingerstyle and the edge of the body was not contoured, and used to dig into my arm, eventually quite painfully by the end of a gig. With hindsight I should have just chamfered a tad off the corner where my arm rested.
  11. Diamond Dave doing it in Spanish
  12. I know he didn't actually sing it himself, but this is still a great song
  13. Loving the zebra print troos! Takes me back โ˜บ๏ธ
  14. It matters because bad technique can lead to RSI and other injuries - muscle, wrist, tendons. Even back injuries.
  15. @Merton I hope you're gonna bring this to the SE Bass Bash? ๐Ÿ˜
  16. The whole 'I could never play like that' thing probably deserves its own thread, but unless you have a physical infirmity, technical ability is achievable, but it takes practice (and probably more practice than most of us can do who work for a living) and also knowing what and how to practice. Musicality on the other hand is a different matter.
  17. But you probably could. If you had the time to spend 3-4 hours every day practicing, then in a couple of months you'd be nailing it.
  18. Or what you could say, is that guitar playing hasn't progressed in 40 years?
  19. ...and a waiste ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ
  20. Is it pinning for the fjords?
  21. Saxon - Destiny. I like it โ˜บ๏ธ
  22. Power Metal, Phil's first album with Pantera. Their best by far IMO.
  23. Does Glen Matlock use Mex P's?
