  1. I've been in bands as the support act to strippers twice. Neither went well. Once was for 'The Dreamboys', however this was long after the whole 'Chippendales', 'Dreamboys' male stripper thing had peaked. An indication of bad things were, was when we found out tickets were been offered on a buy-one-get-four-free deal. The gig was in a bowling alley, and the Dreamboys were performing across the lanes, but for some reason the band were tucked away in a side room, where the buffet was. Of course we played to an empty room. Not sure if the punters, such as there were, even knew there was a band. Pretty sure they would not have cared even if they did! So, free rehearsal with catering.
  2. Wow! 🀩
  3. Ah, the "getting back" train wreck. In the days before satnav, my band had a gig in Northampton. A band member had a friend in Northampton so we were able to get to the gig fine, in daylight. After the gig the friend had gone, and I asked the bar manager for directions to the M1. Now what I reckon happened, is that they clocked my northern accent, and thinking that they were doing me a favour, gave directions to the M1 north junction. Which would have been fine, but I was living in Luton at the time. As it happened there were roadworks and diversions in place. Turning back in the dark and early hours of the morning on country lanes wasn't really an option, so we didn't actually join the M1 until near Leicester.
  4. Many years ago on Emmerdale Farm, when Alan Bates was running the Woolpack, he booked some musicians from one of the music colleges expecting a classical recital. A band turned up and launched into Smells Like Teen Spirit 🀣
  5. But the original performer doesn't always perform their bass line like on the original. eg listen to the Ox play Substitue in the 60's, 70's, and 90's. Different each time. Still awesome though
  6. There was the one where @Happy Jack was told in no uncertain terms, that if he did not let the family of "Irish travellers" get on stage with us and use his mic, then "the boots are coming off!".
  7. there's posh for you...
  8. "Dream a litle dream" always annoyed me, not the whole line, but the way it starts with a diminished 5th. It works, but still...
  9. That was on the radio? 😲
  10. Does Louis Hamilton faff about under the bonnet of his F1 car? πŸ˜‰
  11. No great night started with a salad.
  12. It was in the news recently about the Oasis tribute band who got snowed in at a pub for several days. When they were rescued, they were a Noel Gallagher tribute band, and a Liam Gallagher tribute band 😝
  13. There was the one where the venue wouldn't unlock the doors to let us do the load out as there was a riot happening outside.
  14. I had "you were really good, you didn't get bottled or nuffink!".
  15. The 'B1tch on Bass' (her self titled moniker) from Rockbitch played fretless and used to do an awesome slap solo. I assure you she was not lacking in sustain and attack. I would try to post a link, but I'm at work and I'm not going to do a search for Rockbitch on my work computer πŸ˜†
  16. The vocalist had been MIA for a few days before the gig. With half an hour to go we still hadn't heard from him, so someone went to get him. When he turned up, he looked, and smelled, like a zombie. The gig started and the vocalist started to shriek and moan into the mic. No vocals or vocalising, just shrieking and moaning. The set was (thankfully) cut short when his Mother suddenly appeared on stage, and took him straight out of the venue and to a mental health facility where he was sectioned. Still not sure how his Mother turned up, she wasn't there to start with. Anyway, it turned out that during the previous few days he had done nothing, except smoke his way through a mahoosive bag of weed, which had led to a psychotic episode. So during the break we had a disscussion which was reminicant of the conversion in Spinal Tap, to the extent that the guiatrist actually said "well that's a cosy 10 minutes".
  17. The bass on this is pretty close to what I'm after
  18. Not mine, but still an overdrive - the bass chief. https://flattleyguitarpedals.com/product/bass-chief-bass-overdrive/?fbclid=IwAR0FW-wLNWHK0-dgnUEom768xtdHhpDNnfqnltbcDMJ9e5SSyonmJP-v4fw
  19. I'm still searching for an 80's keyboard bass sound - not to be confused with an 80's synth bass sound! So sound is very important to me, as attested by all the effects pedals I'm faffing with 😎
  20. All my Shuker's are 32" to the nut. Slightly longer to the end of the frets for the low D.
  21. The Queens Guard Pay Tribute to Meatloaf Outside Buckingham Palace. I hope his family get to hear about this.
